“I’ve got an idea!” she excitedly said, sitting up and turning around to face him, “I say we don’t go back.”
“What?” he laughed at her sudden burst of ideas.
“We don’t go back. We stay here and never go back.”
“Sounds like you’ve got everything planned out there,” Zac teased her, leaning up to scoot her closer to him.
“Well, I don’t have everything but the basis is a good idea, isn’t it?”
“I like the idea, but I’m not so sure on how our parents would react.”
“I just don’t wanna go back,” she paused, looking down to see her hand already back in his again, “not without you.”
His hand left hers and cupped her chin, making her look back up at him and into his eyes. She didn’t have to think twice before kissing him back either. Vanessa just didn’t want this to end, not when they were going back to the mainland within a few days of each other and had to pretend that something didn’t happen.
“Wanna know a secret?” he whispered as he broke for a breath. Nodding her head with her eyes closed, she wasn’t at all prepared for what came next. “I love you.”
