Hello guys,

this is our celebration thread in honor of the one year anniversary of the movie Hairspray!
As you might all vividly remember, the movie first got released in cinemas on July 20th and we thought it would be a nice idea to dedicate a thread to the anniversary of a very successful movie, which brought so many fans into the Zac fandom.

So tell us when and how you saw the movie for the first time. Who or what made you watch it and if it was the first time you noticed Zac on the screen. Come in here and throw some Hairspray confetti, contribute a cake, some popcorn, cocktails or whatever.

The most important thing is to have fun today together with everybody else on the board.

Snag an icon if you’d like to (animated icons should follow in a bit).

Hairspray lifted Zac up to another stage in Hollywood and this movie opened up so many possibilities for him. So let’s all be proud of him, the other actors and the successfulness of the movie!!!

that Cake looks awesome!

i can't believe its been a year! ..... not that i actually got to see Hairspray in the cinema

long stupid work hours and living in the smallest city where films don't play in the cinema for long! i think the first mention i saw of it was an advert on the TV for it and i remember thinking Penny's hair looks crazy <3 penny

You've never seen the cake before, Dave?
I believe it's from the Baltimore premiere last year.

Since I've already been a Zac fan for almost a year, when Hairspray came out, I was of course anticipating the movie, but living in Germany, where people decided to release it in freakin' September, didn't make it easier for me to watch it.

I remember being very sad, because everyone here on the board had already seen it and I felt so left out. But on July 24th (thanks to LJ I remember the day) I was finally able to watch a crappy online copy of the movie (

) and couldn't stop watching after that. Of course I went to the cinema in September as well, because that movie needs to be seen on the big screen at least once!!!

i really wanted to see it Jule! after i'd missed it in the cinema but i couldn't find a decent online copy. I thought it looked so good i went out and brought the DVD first day it came out watched it and feel in love with the whole thing

and then had to go out and by the s&S version because i wanted the extras damn it!

I love Hairspray and it was Zac that got me wanting to see it along with Amanda Bynes who is just awesome

The movie and songs are fantastic and I am so pleased it has done so well

I actually wanted a Link/Penny icon, but Jill forgot to make me one.

You waited until the DVD came out? That's what I call self control.

But I'm glad you weren't disappointed.

Thanks to Jill I own the S&S edition too and I have a pretty green locker in my room.

And yep, for me it was Zac and Amanda too who made me watch the movie. Strangely, in the very beginning of production, it was only Amanda, because I didn't know Zac back then.

really what made me want to go see it was when i went to see spiderman 3 i saw the trailer and it showed John T in a pink sparkly Dress and i thought

that movie had got to be seen.

I'd heard / Briefly seen HSM before but otherwise i hadn't heard much about Zac but i thought he did a pretty awesome Job in HS i was impressed

Hehe, I think there are quite a few people out here who have seen Zac in Hairspray first and had never heard of HSM before, so don't worry.

Dave: Yeah, seeing John in the sparkly dress made the movie worth watching.

(not only that of course)
And yes, Jill forgot them.

But I believe it's mostly because they rarely have any scenes together.

But I'm happy with my Penny/Seaweed icon for now, so I'm not gonna complain.
