| Master Fan   | Studio 60: Board Thread Guide, Lingo & FAQ #2  STUDIO 60: FAQ & FUN Welcome, you’ve found your way to the FAQ for the Studio 60 board. Studio 60 laid bare the backstage politics, romances and delicate balance between creative talent, on-air personalities and network executives involving a sketch comedy show reminiscent of Saturday Night Live. It was produced and written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing and Sport’s Night) and directed/produced by Thomas Schlamme (also The West Wing) The Major Characters Danny Tripp(Bradley Whitford) is a producer who takes over show-running duties with Matt Albie, his longtime friend. Matt Albie(Matthew Perry) is a former head writer for Studio 60, takes over as head writer and co-producer of S60. Jordan McDeere(Amanda Peet) is the president of NBS(NationalBroadcastingSystem) of which S60 is one of the shows. Harriet Hayes(Sarah Paulson) is one of the primary stars of Studio 60. She has a past relationship with Matt Albie and is a devout Baptist. Tom Jeter(Nate Corddry) is another of the shows major actors, and is prone to random outbursts of bad advice. Simon Stiles(D. L. Hughley) is yet another member of the cast of Studio 60. Jack Rudolph(Steven Weber) is the chairman of NBS and Jordan's boss. Cal Shanley(Timothy Busfield) is the control-room director of Studio 60. He also helps oversee the sets and props. That would be the Off Topic thread. Rooftop Magic is not the name of a club. It's a name for the pairing of Danny & Jordan. (See 1x14) The Miracles is not a reference to scenes of spectacular acting. That would the pairing of Matt & Harriet. (See 1x16) The Trippers is not a band. That would be Bradley Whitford & Danny Tripp Fans. The Snowballs while they are a kind of sweet cake thing, is also the name of fans of Matt & Cal's friendship. (See 1x11) The Idiot Boys while it may refer to any group of males, is also the title of Matt & Danny's friensdship thread. (See 1x03) Questions & Answers Q: Does Matt still use the "official" writers? A: Yes, Matt does still use the writers from the writer’s room. However, he prefers to do much of the writing himself, much to the chagrin of the writing staff. He is even at one point and time told “Nobody can write 90 minutes of television every week by themselves, they'd be dead by the sixth show,” (The Focus Group – Episode 3). He used the writer’s room for the almost-turned-out-not-to-be plagiarized sketch (West Coast Delay – Episode 4). Matt has also just hired Darius (The Wrap Party - Episode 6) who he and Simon discovered at a comedy club. Q: How old is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (the sketch show)?
