I read somewhere that Wilson didn't expect Wade to be as big of a role as he got because in the pilot he had 2 scenes. I guess he got really lucky.

oh really? wow. he did get lucky then. cuz he became pretty much one of the lead characters in the show. I guess it all had to do with the chemistry with him and Zoe

Yeah, maybe they had intended Wade to be more of a role like AB was in the beginning, but because of Wilson's chemistry with Rachel, they decided to expand his role to a lead character in the show.

Hart of Dixie would have been a completely different show if Wade wasn't a main character.

IMO it wouldn't have been as good of a show. Because without Wade, we probably would have seen George and Zoe in an actual relationship and not just a flirtation.
