Cook, star of Higher Ground, Tru Calling, Out Cold, and Final Destination 2. **INTRODUCTION** Hey all! My name's Janine, and this is my A.J. Cook Appreciation Thread. I've loved A.J. from the moment I saw her on Higher Ground in 2000, and I've continued to love her just as much if not more since then -- hence, the reason I started this thread. [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img]        **BIOGRAPHY** Name: Andrea Joy Cook Nickname(s): Dre, Dree D.O.B: July 22, 1978 Birthplace: Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Hair: Blonde Eyes: Blue Height: 5'6½" Vital Stats: Married (Nathan Anderson; September 2001-present); she met her husband at the college she attended in Utah. Her father, Mike, is a teacher and her mother, Sandra, works for a psychiatrist. She has 3 siblings, Nathan, Paul and Angie. Background: Andrea Joy Cook grew up in Toronto and started taking jazz, tap and ballet lessons at the age of four. She danced competitively for years before at the age of 17 deciding that she wanted to try acting. In high school, She pretty much kept to herself. She wasn't a big partier and didn't drink. That's because Cook, the second youngest of four children, was raised a devout Mormon, and still takes her strong religious beliefs into consideration when choosing roles. **FILMOGRAPHY** Her first job was in a McDonald's commercial, and by 1997, she began landing acting roles including a guest role on the television series Goosebumps and two television movies: In His Father's Shoes and Elvis Meets Nixon. Her feature film debut came in The Virgin Suicides(1999). The film was not a big hit in the box office, but had a lot of hype surrounding it, due to the fact that it was Sofia Coppola's fist film. She is best known for playing opposite fellow Canadians Hayden Christensen and Jewel Staite in the once popular Vancouver-shot U.S. cable-TV series Higher Ground. In the series, she starred as troubled adolescent Shelby Merrick. Although Higher Ground was cancelled in 2000, A.J. stayed in the Vancouver area doing a variety of projects, such as the TV movie The Spiral Staircase (2000), the horror film Ripper: Letter From Hell (2001), and the snowboarder comedy Out Cold (2001). A.J.'s more recent entertainment endeavors include Final Destination 2 (2003) and Tru Calling, airing on Fox, Thursdays at 9/8c. A.J. is about to begin production on a new movie called Living Neon Dreams, set for release later this year.
