I saw "The Vow" Friday, 2-10-12. I liked it a lot. It is a must see for all of Scott's fans. His character is even more important to the story than I thought it would be from the trailer. Scott is looking good, and his smile and charm are, as always, his special brand of on screen magic. I don't know what kind of diet and exercise regimen he is on, but he looks very fit and lean. Well, more power to him.

Damn, why does the publicist have to be here with us? It’s Ben Covington. Sheesh, he’s just as good looking as I thought’d he be. And yes, I just used the word sheesh in my mind. He’s talking about Sundance. Shoot. He just mentioned a girlfriend. Well, there goes that for now. Maybe he’ll lose his memory and a la The Vow, think he’s dating me. Oh, ok, he’s getting off on a different floor. His room must be on the floor before ours. Gosh, I feel like Hugh Grant in Notting Hill right now writing for Horse & Hound Magazine.”)

9:48 AM - I can’t believe I just rode up in the elevator with Scott Speedman. Good timing on my part! I also notice the interview schedule for the day, and who’s up first? That’s right. Speedman!

10:00 AM - In walks Scott.

Jessica: Hey, elevator buddy! (Gosh, I hope he remembers me).

Scott: That’s right! Hey!

Jessica: (Score! I still have a chance.) At the screening last night—which was terrific by the way—the minute you came on screen, a bunch of girls exclaimed in unison, ‘Ahhh!’ It was like, ‘Ben Covington! You’re back!’

Scott: Oh that’s good! [laughs] That’s funny. Thank you! I haven’t even seen the movie yet. They haven’t done a screening for us. At least not one that I know about. [laughs]

When asked by a fellow reporter if he is comfortable watching himself on screen, Scott replies:

Scott: Oh, it depends. Usually I’ll watch it by myself two or three times in a dark room with nobody around. The first time you’re pretty sure you ruined it, and then it gets better and easier. Watching it with an audience can be difficult. You’re eight feet high and all that stuff. It’s not the most fun thing in the world.

Jessica: Ok, so we’re going to play a little game. (Unfortunately the game is not ‘When do you want to go on a date with Jessica?’). On the official movie website for The Vow, they have a little love and relationship game. So I’m going to ask you one of the questions and see how you’d answer it.

Scott: [smiles] Ok.

Jessica: (Seriously, he just smiled at me. My college, Felicity-watching self is dying right now). If your true love forgot who you were, what’s the first thing you would do to jog their memory? A) Show them your favorite photos. B) Re-create our first date. C) I don’t know what I would do. Or D) Have a long conversation.

Scott: Oh, some hard-hitting journalism! [laughs]

Jessica: That’s right, and you love it.

Scott: Haha, ok, let’s see. What are my options again? (He picks up the paper to go over it with me. Glad he’s taking it so seriously! Who knew?!) Well, between B and C. I’d probably try to recreate our first date to jog their memory, get them going.

Before Scott is whisked away, he’s asked how he feels about his career and his performances.

Scott: I feel like now, I’m really coming into my own, acting-wise. For me, it’s just confidence. A lot of this game is confidence.

Thanks for posting that.

I also enjoyed The Vow. Very peculiar that it's getting a total beat-down by critics. It may not be the brand of drama they're looking for, but it didn't have any of the "bad" stuff that is normally found in other critical duds. I thought it'd at least be in the high-50's to 60's percent range on Rotten tomatoes, but oh well...

Anyway, great to see him in something other than with vampire teeth, which is all I've gotten to see him in (Underworld).

Do you guys like the plot of his new tvshow? I think it could work really great! I must say I was surprised, I didn't think he would go back to tv, he seemed so focus on films, he said once he was looking to go serious with his movie career, and he was waiting for a lead. Hope he won't give up on it, 'cause I know he will, he just has to be in the media some more... and people will fall for him as an actor and as a person.
I wish him luck with the tvshow, though
