Scott Speedman #19- The Face of the Future
Welcome to the new Speedy thread. Our Speedy had the great honor recently of winning the Saturn award for "Face of the Future" for his performance in Underworld. Though Speedy has had a lot of time off since he filmed his last movie, he will be getting busy again quickly. He is about to start filming 3 Needles and other pending projects including Blue Valentine and the Underworld sequel. He is also in final negotiations to star in XXX State of the Union. So the title of this thread is very appropriate. Our Scottie is indeed the face of the future! And could there be a more beautiful, handsome, incredibly sexy man? I think not.

Erin, thanks for starting our new thread. Even with all the problems this board is having, we are still moving along.
Diana, love those scenes you posted. Especially love the "action pictures". We are all such romantic saps on this thread and we love our FAB. |

Erin, thanks for starting the thread and the title is perfect! And I love the pictures, especially the 'action ones' they are just so beautiful.
I have had so much trouble getting onto this board lately, it is so frustrating. But I love reading all the news about Speedy. I can't believe he has so many projects coming up. So is the XXX movie a definite thing? Also, I was wondering if anyone knows when and where he will start shooting the 3 Needles movie? Thanks again for all the goodies. Annie |

Has anyone bought the extended Underworld DVD? This review ( a tough reviewer) gave it a four and half stars out of five. I may have to pick this one up:
EXTRAS: Exclusive to this edition is a new commentary with Wiseman and his actors Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman, previously missing on Columbia's first disc which featured not one but two production commentaries that don't survive the cut here. As with any discussion amongst close friends, this scene specific track is filled with some good laughs. Speedman is the brunt of many jokes beginning with the trio point out, in the film's opening shoot-out sequence, a moment in which the actor slides across the floor to pull a woman out of danger and winds up grabbing her crotch! As the movie progresses Wiseman takes the time to touch on the new footage citing reasons for their deletion (mostly pacing concerns), but he makes it a point at the beginning of the commentary to state this is not a "director's cut." Hmm. Beckinsale meanwhile good heartedly points out her flaws (sure thing, babe) and sometimes goes so far as to take jabs at scenes that don't work. "I feel like the child of divorced parents," Speedman says when he's caught in the middle of a Wiseman/Beckinsale bickering match. Ah, love. I wonder if, as someone has mentioned, that he is preparing for his role in 3 Needles where he is an aids victim. I just remember Greg Grunberg talking about the fact that Speedy has quite an appetite and therefore it seems like it may be a conscious effort to lose weight for that role.

Maeve, thanks for the new pictures and the info on the Underworld DVD. For me, it's a no-brainer... I'm planning on buying it since I don't own it and I can't pass up the opportunity to hear our guy talking and laughing as just "Scott". He seems to go out to lots of events when he's visiting NYC (hardly ever when he's "home" in L.A.). I definitely noticed that he looks thinner, but I think he looks happy and healthy, so I'm not worried or anathin. Maybe it is for his role in "3 Needles". Speaking of which, I just wanted to post this more detailed description of the movie that I read... Three tiny needles change peoples’ lives around the planet... In South Africa, Clara, a Novice nun, makes it her mission to convert rapidly dying Africans to Catholicism before it is too late. She strays from her mission and becomes embroiled in a futile struggle to help a family of orphans, but puts her own redemption at risk.... In China, Jin Ping sets up her mobile blood collection service in the tiny village of Tonghu, and the local peasants rejoice and prosper. Not long after, however, a farmer’s wife and daughter mysteriously die. The farmer sets out on a journey across the province to find out why, but receives little interest from the government. He returns to find his entire village overwhelmed with disease, and Jin Ping’s blood collection business vanished into thin air.... In North America, Denny, a second-rate porn actor, passes his monthly blood test by stealing samples from his geriatric father. When he gets caught, his poverty-stricken family can barely cope. Exhausted by her own bad luck, Denny’s mother Olive develops a plan to escape their grinding economic hardship. |

As long as his eyes sparkle, Scott looks great no matter what his weight is. On the other hand, I don't want to see him hurt. I hope the role in 3 Needles will be worth this sacrifice. The fact that he has a healthy appetite will help him get back in shape (basketball and running as part of his routine, too) He may look thinner, but I think more mature, as well. And, oh, so handsome ... His hair is as gorgeous, as he is. You can tell, I don't like the guy one bit ...
