Watched the first two episodes of Downton, this evening it's the Pamuk scandal, I remember it being exciting, creepy, and a little funny when Mary, Anna and Cora had to carry his body through the house............https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6SElyaUFQs
and it really showed what a reliable friend Anna was to Mary too.

Did you feel any different from watching it now than the first time you've watched that ep?

Totally different, because the first time we didn't know what to expect, in some ways it's more enjoyable knowing what's going to happen, and of course looking forward to Matthew proposing, and then the wedding after, got to wait a few episodes for that though.

Oh yeah that's a good thing about re-watching: we already know what to expect and we don't have to wait weekly for new episodes.

There's something nice about only having to wait a day for the next episode, rather than a whole week. And not to mention, the costumes are so gorgeous in Series One.

Did they improve though? I do like the costumes from S1 as well, they were lovely. I think I also like the S4 or S5 costumes.

They covered a lot of history on Downton, so the costumes were always changing, the war years perhaps were a little more drab, and then the twenties that followed were getting into shorter hem lines. We know that Mary had to dress down after Matthew's death, and later on she started wearing more glamorous outfits, the last series I thought were some of her best looks.

True, I really love the flapper look. And that ep where Mary attended the fashion show, was that S5? Their costumes for that season was on point. I imagine the movie will be just as lovely too.

Yeah, that was S5, and a great episode for displaying some gorgeous costumes......https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece...fashion-show/#
I loved it when Mary said 'yummy', about one of the dresses.
