Female Celebrities - Marilyn Monroe Appreciation Thread

Hey guys!

My name is Meg. The other day, I saw a biography of Marilyn and became obsessed with her since then. Some people I know also admire her. I was wondering if anyone else here likes the fallen "goddess."
She was the Hollywood icon during the 50's and early 60's until her "suicidal" death, which some people think was actually a murder.
What do u guys think?

I know some people think she was the whore of Hollywood, that she was stupid and really not all that pretty, but they're completely wrong. She was a magnetic person, extremely intelligent about her own career, and only considered to be stupid because of the roles she was pigeon-holed into.

I've seen a few documentaries (The Child Goddess, We Remember Marilyn which is quite good despite the badly doctored nude photograph of her with a black bikini drawn on, and The Final Days which got me away from the Kennedy assassination idea and to the road of believing her "suicide" was just a horrible accident), read a few books (My Story which made me simply adore her for seeming to think a lot like I do, To Norma Jean with Love, Jimmie by her first husband, Marilyn by George Barris, and parts of Legend by Fred Lawrence Guiles and The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe by Donald H. Wolfe[/i]), I own Some Like it Hot, Hometown Story, and the Diamond Collection and have seen most of her movies (Niagara, The Sever Year Itch, Some Like it Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop, Let's Make Love, Love Nest, Monkey Business, There's No Business Like Show Business, Clash By Night, We're Not Married, Don't Bother to Knock, River of No Return, The Misfits, All About Eve, The Prince and the Showgirl, and Love Happy).

She was a good actress and singer as well (I've got a collection of her music too). I simply adore her; I don't understand how people couldn't like her.

I have that photo hanging in my room along with a more tasteful photo of her filming The Seven Year Itch. Her skirt is up like a circle at her waist and she's smiling with Tom Ewell on the side laughing.

She spent most of her money on clothes and things to maintain herself in Hollywood. I think she was pretty much broke when she died.

She was daring yet sweet at the same time. She plays it well, unlike todays Britney. No offense to the Britney luvas here.

I love those ballerina pictures. She looked really great in white which I believe was her favorite color to wear. There is a photo called "Marilyn in mink" they they sell in poster form on ebay and it is simply gorgeous.

What movies have you seen her in? I think she was beautiful in Niagara. The movie isn't the best ever, but just seeing her in it is cool. I don't like how she started doing her hair later in life like for the unfinished Something's Got to Give (which has that beautiful nude swimming scene- the girl couldn't go wrong).

I like that she was openly inspired by Jean Harlow of the 1930s. She was even named after her (Norma Jean). I think that Marilyn was different because her "sexy" persona was shadowed by her innocence while Jean's was more blunt and sometimes ill-willing. Often times Marilyn is much more likable. In Niagara I'd say she was the most similar to Jean.

Yeah Some Like it Hot was the first movie I saw her in and it is probably still my favorite of hers. I was expecting a tramp and got this innocent, beautiful, lovable creature. It's a very funny movie; I love the time period. Marilyn's beautiful in it (I love the way she says "Goodnight honey;" I say it like to my cat. haha) and I think she does a good job. Did you know she was pregnant during the filming?

Hello, I am a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe :-) I think that she was a very beautiful and charismatic person!

Just gotta say I love Marilyn...as you can tell by my avi...she will always be THE sex symbol.
