Mini Biography
Hilary was discovered as a child by producer Suzy Sachs, who coached her in acting. When she was nine years old she starred in her first play as "Mowgli" in "The Jungle Book." She began to appear regularly in local theater and school plays. She went to school in Bellingham, where she lived with her family, until she was 16. She competed in the Junior Olympics and Washington State championships in swimming; she ranked 5th in the state in all-around gymnastics (which would come in handy for starring in The Next Karate Kid (1994) years later). In 1990, Hilary and her mother moved to Los Angeles, where she enrolled in South Pasadena High School, and started acting professionally. She appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) but The Next Karate Kid (1994) where she got the part competing against hundreds of other actresses was her breakout role. Ever since then she has been much in demand, and has worked non-stop in movies. She won the Best Actress Oscar for Boys Don't Cry (1999). She starred in a few minor films before starring in Clint Eastwood's boxing drama Million Dollar Baby (2004) that won her a Golden Globe and a SAG Award, as well as her second Academy Award. She is two for two at the Oscars, a feat she shares only with a few other women. Off-screen, she married Chad Lowe on September 28, 1997. An aficionado for anything that involves the outdoors, she enjoys: sky diving, river rafting, and skiing.

Yes. I love her, She always seems to select the most interesting, thoughtprovoking scripts. Thirty years old and an Oscar(and hopefully another one in a few weeks!) under her belt, that's not too shabby. She can even take a cheesy Lifetime movie(or two!) and make it riveting. You look at her and you think "why is this chick doing Lifetime movies, she's gonna be a STAR, baby!"

At such a young age(30? Girl looks like she's seventeen!), she's done some really challenging stuff, and I love that. Absolutely pulling for her on Oscar night, and I bet she'll look gorgeous.

She is one of my favorite actresses. She is amazingly talented, and I am soooo happy she got nominated for an Oscar again!

She's phenomenal in Million Dollar Baby!

I agree! Her performance in "Million Dollar Baby" is amazing. I just started up a website for her since there seems to be a lack of website support. You can see it @: www.hswank.com.

Anyone see her on '60 Minutes' tonight? The best interview I've seen in awhile. Very emotional but it really showed how down-to-earth and kind Hilary is.

Hilary Swank Thread #1 - From Aaron Spelling To Clint Eastwood: Quite A Long Way

Let's face it. She's now a serious player. Two-time Academy Award winner. Whether you agree with that or not, she now has the statues. Not bad for someone who had previous roles in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie, "The Next Karate Kid" and a brief stint in Beverly Hills, 90210.

So, let's discuss what happens next with Hilary. Do you like the roles she has taken up to now? What did you think of her performance in "Million Dollar Baby"?

I agree, she totally deserved the Oscar for Milion Dollar Baby. I didn't expect a such role, after Hilarys performance in The Core. But, God, I'm so happy, that she won Oscar!! I hope, that it's not her last Academy Award!
