| Gabrielle Christian #2 - It's Our Duty to Please that Cute Booty since i can't see the first two.......here i started us off let the gab fest on Gabby begin! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ***please, if you take this, please give credit that it was done and is from the Spencer/Ashley forum*** ![]() now, here's the answers to the questions from various people here on the forum: Describe a day in the life of Gabrielle Christian. WOW. You wouldn't believe it, but my life seems to literally change by each and every day! However, a typical day when I'm not working most likely consists of an audition or two, a morning or sunset hike for workout and meditation, taking care of bills/agents/manager/business stuff, and trying my best to answer all of my wonderful fanmail! Haha, I love you guys. If you were not acting, what field of work would you see yourself pursuing? At this very moment, acting is basically my entire life. But I also do have many many other dreams! I would love to go back to school at some point to become fluent in another language. I love traveling more than anything and would love to be able to really acclimate to another country by being able to cummincate and really experience the culture on a more social and personal level. I'd also love to study psychology because I am very fascinated with human behavior and the way that people think (also another reason I love acting so much!) What's your greatest fear in life? Heights and the idea of losing people who are very dear to my heart. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Oh my God, 10 years from now! Well, if all goes as dreamed, I want to not only have a successful career in acting, but I'd also love to have a family of my own. Family is the most important thing to me, and I'd love more than anything to have my own some day. It may sound pretty crazy! But I want to get married in the next few years and have kids in the next 5-10 years. I want to be a young mom. What are your thoughts on all the forums, websites, and such that focus on you, as both an actress and for the character you portray on tv? I have actually felt extremely honored to have the feedback that I've received from the press and our fans! You know, most of the time, the industry level of Hollywood can be really tough on us actors- both mentally and physically. There are many expectations that we must live up to that can ultimately cause alot of insecurity for most of us. However, so far, I've felt that I've only heard good things. And I just love it when people tell me that they can relate to Spencer on a personal level! It means so much to me because I feel like I am doing my job correctly and successfully reaching out to people on a personal level. It's all rather humbling I must say. :0) What do you think of being more well known since South of Nowhere's premiere? It's pretty cool, well, most of the time! But sometimes it sucks because the only time I seem to get recognized is right after I go hiking! Haha, and it's pretty hilarious because I'm always in my sweats with my hair in a messy bun and people have to look twice and have to ask if it's really me. Gosh, I couldn't even imagine what it must be like for huge celebrity status actors. What was it that finally pushed you to pursue your dream as an actress? I've been acting onstage since I was nine years old: dance, plays, musicals. I decided to get a talent manager when I was 12 and started auditioning professionally for things in the Washington DC area and New York City. I used to have to skip school and take the 3 hour train ride up to NYC with my mom sometimes a few times in a week! It was really expensive, but it was totally worth it. When I was 15 I booked my first TV series on a show called YOUNG AMERICANS on the WB. We filmed in Havre de Grace Maryland, about an hour from my home at the time. It was just such an amazing experience, so exciting for me to be on set with other actors and cameras and stuff! And it was so cool because I got to play Kate Bosworth's little sister, and this was when Kate was just getting started. Kate is very successful now and I think she's still dating Mr. Hottie Orlando Bloom? I'm not quite sure. But anyways. After going to a performing arts high school I went to college at the University of Pittsburgh (go Panthers!) for about a year and a half. I was studying to be a theater major, but ended up leaving almost two years later. I figured, what the heck, you don't necessarily need a degree to be an actress in today's world, so why not just go to LA and see what happens! And here I am today. :0) Who is your role model as an actress? Meryl Streep (love the versatility level); Alison Lohman (more my age range) and Reese Witherspoon (I just love her no matter what, she's adroable). Was it awkward at all to have your first on-screen kiss with a female, especially one that you are really good friends with? Well, it wasn't necessarily my first kiss on screen. Keep in mind, I had already made out with Drake Bell from Drake and Josh long before Miss Mandy Musgrave, haha! But yea, it was kind of crazy with Mandy. We are really good friends, she's one of my best friends in LA actually, so it was definitely an interesting experience for us both. But, you know, we're both professionals and that made it OK. Plus, Mandy's not too bad of a kisser I must say. Haha! What's been the biggest perk so far, for being a celebrity? Raising awareness for my charity organization! For me, it's been an incredible journey to be able to reach out to my fans and educate them about my family's SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) non-profit organization. www.sidssurvivalguide.org . It's amazing, but people in today's world seem to really listen to people in the entertainment industry when it comes to raising awareness for a specific cause. I just feel so honored to be on a level where I can actually do that now. You all have no idea how much this means to my family and our organization. It's incredibe. If you could have a conversation with any person from anywhere or anytime, who would you want to talk to and why? Oh man, I'd probably have to say my cousin Spencer Tracy. For all of you youngsters that may not know, Spencer is a legendary actor from back in the day of old-school Hollywood Glamour. He is the only actor, besides Tom Hanks, who has one two Best Actor Oscars consecutively. He comes from the time of Clark Gable, Mickey Rooney, Katherine Hepburn, etc. And I'm just fascinated with this period of time in Hollywood where everything was so classy. Actors spoke more eloquently, dressed more sophisticated and elegant! Wow, I just adrore it. And for me, I believe that Spencer is kind of like a guardian angel in many ways in my acting career. It's also pretty ironic that I happen to share his name on South! Now that's fate for ya. What would be at the top of your list of things you would want to do/accomplish in your life? Unconditional love and family. Did you give yourself a time-frame in which to "make it" in Hollywood, or were you planning on staying indefinitely to pursue acting? I have always kind of lived my life day by day. Wherever my heart is, I'm there. Acting has always been my biggest dream career wise, but I also have many other dreams in my personal life. However, I always knew I would stay in LA until I felt in my heart that I had accomplished that particular dream. Was it difficult from an actor's perspective to see the work you've done replayed on tv? Do you ever critique yourself or others? Haha, it's quite strange actually! It's like, wait, I sound like that? I look like that? What the heck am I doing?? Haha, I think you can really learn alot about yourself, but at the same time, it's all rather strange for me personally. Do you feel your newly acquired celebrity status has been an effective resource to help gain awareness about the tragedy of SIDS and do you feel enough is currently being done in the world to battle SIDS as a whole? Yes indeed! I am so very happy to see that success we have made, and I am very much looking forward to all that's still to come! I feel extremely fourtunate and blessed to be a part of something that can actually make and difference in the world. And I know in my heart that this is only the beginning of something great. Do you mind playing the ''girl-next door" type roles or would you like to break free from that? Girl-next-door is awesome. I love playing that because it's pretty similar to me and my personal way of life, but then again I also love a good change every once in a while! I love being versatile and I also love playing the bad girl because it's like a whole new outlook on things. I love the idea of stepping into somebody elses shoes every now and again. Were you intimidated or had any anxiety when you learned the character of Spencer was going to be questioning her sexuality and be in intimate situations with other characters, namely those of the same sex? How did you prepare yourself for those scenes? I guess I can admit that I was a little nervous at first, but mainly because I did not know what to really expect. But when I finally got to reading the first few scripts, and throughout the entirety of the first season, Spencer's journey really just fascinated me and I was very excited to see where she was going and what was going to happen. I was up for the challenge ya know! The intimate scenes were OK. I trust Mandy, and I know she trusts me, so we were able to be comfortable with one another. We didn't really prepare together for those scenes though, we just kind of did our own thing and stepped back for a moment. Do you feel being a Catholic has helped you better relate to "Spencer" and the possible internal conflicts she might experience? Oh for sure, I can totally relate to that because I have some friends and family in my personal life that are alot like Mrs. Carlin. But you know, I just tried to use that to my advantage and internalize how another person may feel in that situation. Towards the end of the first season, Spencer appears to become more confidant. Did you think that the shift in attitude was true to the character and character development? Did you enjoy playing the more "take-charge" Spencer? Oh hell yea, I loved every moment of that. I mean, throughout the first Season, Spencer is the new girl and still kind of shy and off-guard. But it was great to see that she was able to grow and stand her ground as she became more comfortable with her surroundings. I am very excited to see where she goes in Season 2. Can you imagine any other actress playing the part of ''Ashley?" Oh my goodness, never! What's your favorite Spencer and Ashley scene and why? Hmmm, there are soo many! But I'd have to say one of my favorties would have to be the first time they hold hands in the school parking lot. I just love everything about that moment because it's so small and delicate, but it means EVERYTHING in the world. Spencer is finally able to express as little as she can, and in public of all places. I also love the way it was captured cinemagraphically. When we finally got to see that scene, I remember feeling choked up all of a sudden like I was going to cry. It hit me pretty hard. What would you like to see happening between Spencer and Ashley during season 2? Aww, I'd love for them to get together more than anything because they are just so perfect for one another! But I must admit, I'm also up for a little drama myself. :0) Were you pleased with how the first season ended-with Spencer and Ashley finally kissing? It was the ideal season finale. How did you feel when SON got such an overwhelming response when the finale was available a day early on iTunes, and was within the top 10? Thrilled! Honored! Very very happy. You guys freakin' rock, I love you. Haha! Did you watch every episode when they first aired? Of course! The cast used to get together every friday night and watch it together. It was so much fun for us because we could share all the inside jokes from set that day. How does it feel for the show to be nominated for a GLAAD award? Are you surprised by the positive response from the "gay community?" Oh yes, it feels absolutely great. But I must say I was not very much surprised by the response from the gay community at all! I guess I kind of expected it because of the content of the show. I'm just honored that they are actually nominating us for an award for it. It's great to be acknowledged like that in such a tough industry. How do you feel being "looked up to" for young gay/lesbian/bi-sexual teenagers/young adults? It's extremely honorable. I just hope I am doing the best job I can do! What do you think about SON reaching audiences of ALL ages and not just the age group that its directed at? Oh it's fabulous. I just love getting fanmail from adults in their 40's wishing there was something like this around when they were young! It's great to hear that it has really helped people of all ages to become more comfortable in their own skin and have something to relate to when it comes to "finding yourself." However, I too wish a show like this could have come out sooner. It really does have potential to make a lot of differences in our world. Throughout the first season you guys filmed at different locations (ie. Mulholland Dr., the Hollywood Bowl, etc.) is there anywhere else in particular you would want to film at? Hawaii? Hahaha, Mandy and I actually asked the producers if Ash and Spence could do a romantic getaway to some beautiful island in the middle of nowhere! Hey, I still want to do that. You guys totally need to write the-n.com and make some suggestions, k? ;0) What does it take to become an extra on the show? Umm, I will have to look into that for ya. I think you can just go through the bigger Agency's out here like Central Casting, or any of the other ones affiliated with AFTRA because that is the union that South is based through. Honestly, who was a better kisser----Mandy or Matt? Oh man, they both would totally kill me if they know I answered this right now, haha! Honestly, yea, Matt is definitely hot, but Mandy's definitely the better kisser. Haha! I think women just tend to be alot more passionate when it comes to intimacy? Yea? (PS- I love you Matthew). Who would you rather see in a dress and heels, Chris Hunter or Matt Cohen? Matthew for sure. Wow, he'd seriously still be gorgeous either way. Were the brownies really that good? (ep 1x08) Heck yea they were! Hmm, brownies. Now I want some. :0) Do you think toe-socks are really weird? They rock. What do you think is the better type of precipitation, rain or sleet? Rain for sure, especially when you're going to bed and it serenades you to sleep. Second set of questions answered: now, here's the answers to the questions from various people here on the forum: Do you feel pressure in "Hollywood" to look a certain way/be a certain size? Oh heck yea! All the time. And anyone who says they aren't pressured are not telling the truth, because out here, I think everyone is to a certain extent. Hollywood is just such an image based environment, and it's not JUST about being fashionable and thin. I mean, especially being in the public eye, this means that you must maintain your so-called "image" 24-7. This can be difficult to live up to even if you're having a rough day, ya know? Although I try my very best not to let it get to me so much. I think it's important to stay level-headed and have friends and family that are in no way involved in the industry. It keeps ya on your feet for sure. If you could guest role on any show, what show would it be and why? LOST. I absolutely LOVE everything about that show. The writing is fabulously written. And I just think it'd be really cool to film on location with such a unique group of talented people. What other places would you like to travel to? I'm actually planning a roadtrip in my new car throughout the Northern US after I wrap South this summer! And my boyfriend is also planning a trip for us to fly to Puerto Rico sometime in the next few months (he's very romantic!) I'm also dying to backpack through Europe at some point in my life. And I'd love to live in London or Budapest for a period of time. Oh gosh, I just want to experience everything and see the entire world! (If you could travel back in time) Is there any piece of advice you would give to a younger version of yourself? Focus more in school! Don't write notes to your boyfriend while you should be paying better attention in class. Lol. Because now that I'm older I can definitely say that education is the most precious thing the world can offer us. Is there anything you particularly dislike about your life at the moment? Oh man, I just hate it when I'm not working. Having to wait till May to begin filming South again has really been tough on me because I just love it all so much! I love every single thing about the whole filming process. Have you ever read the part of a role and found that the character really hit close to home/struck a cord? Spencer was actually the first role that really hit close to home for me. I mean, first off, for both of us to come from the suburban life in Ohio/Maryland to a place like LA, we definitely share quite a similarity. It's just such a huge adjustment in lifestyle, and it was pretty ironic that it was all still kind of happening for me when I booked South. What would you consider to be the best day of your life so far? Every single day is incredible for the most part! However, I'd say that some of the best periods of my life were being onstage in highschool. The theater is in fact my deepest passion. What was the hardest scene you've ever had to film? The crying scene after my mom hits me in the season finale. We were in a crunch and had to film the whole thing in about 10 minutes! And I was so nervous because we filmed it an entirely different day from when my mom had actually slapped me. So I really had to emotionally put myself in a difficult place in a limited amount of time. It was actually kind of hilarious when I think back on it now! Lol. What does your family think about your success as an actress, as well as the success of SON? My family has always been very supportive of my dreams in life. And acting has pretty much been the biggest thus far. So they are all very happy for me! I'm very fourtunate for this. What is something that people would be surprised to know about you? Hmm...honestly? I guess I can admit that I am an extremely reflective and spiritual person. I internalize alot and am very sensitive and emotional. I guess alot of people don't know this because I like to step away and not show that side of me in public. However, this has seemed to benefit me in my acting I think! Haha. What do you feel you have accomplished so far with SON? In many ways, I honestly believe that South has enabled me to accomplish a certain sense of respect as an actress. I say this because South has not only been recognized for the real life issues we deal with that are finally being expressed in today's society of entertainment, but also because my character is a specific symbol of this. It's really an honor for me to have the opportunity to take on this challenge. Do you prefer acting in tv shows or movies? I wouldn't give up my part on SON for anything in the entire world! But besides South, I'd love love love to do movies. And I am completely obsessed with the independent film industry. Do your friends watch SON? If so, how do you feel about that? Heck yea! All my friends back home in Maryland and at my old college in Pittsburgh all get together on friday nights and have screenings of the show. The're all very supportive! If you were not acting, what field of work would you see yourself pursuing? Hmmm.....most likely writing, counseling or psychology. I am so very fond of human behavior it's ridiculous. How was it doing "Drake and Josh?" So much fun! I got to work on set for a whole week, including the table-read of the script, rehearsals and the actual filming process. And it was so much fun for me to learn all the wrestling stunts! I mean, I had a stunt-double for about 25% of the fight with Drake, but I'm proud to say that I did the other 75% all on my own. So far, what is the moment that has defined you as an actor? Onstage an original musical called "Paper Moon" at Ford's Theater in Washington DC (this was my first professional production when I was just 12 years old). In film, definitely South. Depending on the storyline, would you portray another gay character? Definitely. Was the decision to leave college to pursue acting a hard one? Do you see yourself going back to school one day? Yes, it was quite a difficult decision for me to leave college, but at the same time I knew in my heart that it wasn't for me at that point in my life. The University of Pittsburgh is a great school, but also pretty expensive. And I was studying theater of all things. I just figured I didn't necessarily need a degree to become an actress. So I figured, what the heck, I'll just go to Hollywood and see what happens. But yes, I will be going back to school one day for sure. I am actually considering taking a few fall classes next semester when I finish filming season 2. If you could pick any character from a book to portray in a movie, who would it be and why? Fourtune's Rocks by Anita Shreve. This is one of my all-time favorite books about a young girl who falls into a pasionate love affair with an older man. It takes place during the turn of the century and it's a love story about two people who really love each other, but it's difficult for them to express it because of the social expectations during the time period. It's quite similar to Spencer and Ashley's relationship in fact! But the young girl in this story's name is Olympia, and she's extraordinary. She's passionate, intelligent and beautiful. And she knows what she wants and does not let anything get in the way of her getting it. I am very intrigued with playing such head-strong ingenue type characters. What do you think about SON possibly airing internationally? Oh my goodness! That would be so incredibly rewarding for us. Do you think that it's an interesting statement about human behavior, that at the end of the season, all the heterosexual characters were miserable in one way or another, whereas the two lesbians/bi-sexuals (Spencer and Ashley) were finally happy? Hmm, ya know? I don't know if I can fully agree to say that human behavior in general defines this, but I will say that no matter what the consequences I believe that love always conquers all. Did you guys prank each other on set? Hahahaha, you bet. Mandy is the best at that. She is hilarious and she loves to make people laugh. I just love working with her more than anything because we have so much fun together. Do you think Spencer was really that clueless during her "date" with Kelly, or do you think she really knew what she was doing/what was going on, and was just "laying low" until the time was right? Oh yea, for sure. Spence knew what was up! I believe she was just too afraid at that point in her life to come to terms with her true feelings about girls. Is there a moment or episode you could pin-point when you felt Spencer truly felt or realized she had fallen in love with Ashley? I believe that Spencer had a crush on Ashley from the very first moment they meet in the season premier. However, I think it took her till about the middle of the season to realize that she was truly in love. For me, I believe this happened in "First Time" Episode ..5. This is when Spence is talking about her first time with a guy and talks about wanting to have a new first time with someone else. She totally knows she is talking about Ashley. And Ashley knows it too. And from that moment on they are so in love! You said in an interview with After-Ellen.com that before filming in July 2005, some characters in the pilot were being re-cast. Which characters were they? Every single one except for me and Mandy! Haha, we just happened to be the lucky ones I guess! Was there any doubts in your mind that you might not land the role of "Spencer?" Oh for sure. I mean, they were auditioning girls all over the US and Canada even! It was pretty intimidating to be aware of this right off the bat, but then there was also that special little feeling in my heart that just kept me hanging in there. Are you aware of the "Spencer Head Tilt?" ![]() Oh my goodness, so embarrasing. Lol. Does the word-merge "Spashley" mean anything to you? Oh yes. Oh yes. Mandy text messages me that as a joke like all the time. Haha! We like to think of ourselves as the next Matt and Ben. Lol. Do you have any pet peeves? I hate hate hate the sound of people file their nails, it absolutely terrifies me! What's your most prized possession? My boyfriend of course! Seriously! But speaking materially? I'd have to say that it is currently a beautiful Tiffany's necklace that I just got for FREE in a gift bag at a redcarpet event. It's so fabulous! | Actually, I restarted the thread. But I'll leave this one since you've added so many images already. But PLEASE, in the future, check at least the first couple of pages before starting new threads. Not to pick on you personally, but NO ONE is reading the topped message and starting threads all over the place when I specifically asked them not to. BTW, would you like me to change the thread title to the one from before? __________________ "Naya's my girl." - Heather Morris || Naya Rivera and Heather Morris Board Campaigns||Live Journal||Tumblr|| | |||
