I came back from work and heard the news, I was so sad to hear it, because I loved her in Parent Trap and Maid In Manhattan. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I was so shocked to hear that she passed away... I had heard about the ski accident on the radio the other day. I saw on one of the sites tonight that she died and I just couldn't believe it...My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends

from People.com..

Quote:
Actress Natasha Richardson died from a blunt impact to the head, a spokesperson for the New York City medical examiner's office tells PEOPLE. Her death was ruled an accident Thursday after an autopsy was performed.

The blunt impact caused internal brain bleeding, which is what killed her, the M.E.'s office reports, but it is still unknown what she hit her head on.

Richardson's nightmare began Monday afternoon when she fell during a private ski lesson on a beginner hill at Mont Tremblant in Quebec.

Mont Tremblant spokeswoman Catherine Lacasse told PEOPLE that 45-year-old Richardson initially appeared fine and was "lucid, talking, even making jokes."

Two ski patrol officers and her ski instructor tended to her at the scene where she initially declined to go to the hospital, said the rep. Instead, the trio accompanied her back to her hotel room. About an hour later, "she started to suffer headaches and the instructor said, 'Okay, you better go to the hospital,' and she agreed," said Lacasse.

An ambulance took her to a nearby hospital, Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, and later in the day she was taken to Sacre Couer Hospital in Montreal, where was treated in the intensive care unit.

On Tuesday she was flown back to New York City where her family held vigil at Lenox Hill Hospital. The family announced her death Wednesday evening.

The Greenwich Village Funeral Home is handling her arrangements.
I hope this gives Liam and the boys some sort of peace.

I'm absolutely devastated by the passing of Natasha. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago after seeing her on Broadway doing A Streetcar Named Desire and she was such a lovely, kind person. Her smile and laugh are forever imprinted in my mind and it's just so sad that she's no longer with us. It was so unexpected that it almost doesn't seem real to me. She's going to be greatly missed, and my heart hurts so much for Liam and her boys. They've been in my prayers constantly this week and will continue to be for a long time.

You got to meet her??? That is so awesome! It's nice to know she was lovely kind person, though I couldn't imagine her not being so! She seemed like such a warm, and caring person, not to mention very talented. My heart goes out to her family.

Natasha's funeral was today.

Quote:
Natasha Richardson Is Laid to Rest Near Her Home | Liam Neeson
Family and friends of Natasha Richardson said their final goodbye to the star of stage and film during a funeral at St. Peter's Church in Millbrook, N.Y., on Sunday.

Under a bright sun on a cold spring day, Richardson's husband Liam Neeson, their sons, Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, her mother Vanessa Redgrave, her sister Joely Richardson and dear friends such as Uma Thurman, Ralph Fiennes and Mia Farrow arrived at St. Peter's Church at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Neeson, looking somber in a dark suit and sunglasses, briefly posed for photographers with his family before walking to the hearse, where he was the first to put his hand on the mahogany casket, which he and six other pallbearers carried to the church.

The ceremony lasted a little more than an hour. As the funeral ended, the sky began to turn overcast. Neeson and the family drove to a nearby cemetery, where the burial took place under a large green tent. There, a grieving Vanessa Redgrave gave a thumbs-up to the fans and reporters who had gathered.

Richardson was laid to rest in the same cemetery where her grandmother Rachel Redgrave, the mother of Vanessa Redgrave, is buried. The two plots face each other.

After the burial service, Neeson joined Vanessa on a short walk to Rachel's grave, where they paid their respects to the Redgrave family matriarch. Lynn followed afterwards.

At 4:45 p.m., Neeson left the cemetery after his final goodbye.

I did meet her briefly, yes, and it was a wonderful experience. It was my first trip to New York and she certainly made a tourist feel welcome.

In response to that picture, her sons don't really seem to be showing much emotion one way or the other. Of course I realize people grieve differently.

And her mother giving a thumbs up? I can understand wanting to let the public know you're going to make it and appreciate the support, but I'm not sure I could muster a thumbs up at my daughter's funeral. I don't mean to seem rude just a reflection.

You're very lucky to have met her!! I always wanted to meet her after watching The Parent Trap. I didn't know she did stage, though...had I known, I would've gone to see one of her shows.

I'm still in shock that she's actually gone now..I loved her in Parent Trap & Maid in Manhattan..my mom's still in a bit of shock over the news.

And, I think they're just putting up a good face for the papz, whom, in my opinion, shouldn't really be there. I don't mind a write-up about it..but pictures? A little over the line..but, if the family didn't mind, then they probably OK'd it.

Truthfully, I didn't know she did stage work until I saw a poster in New York advertising A Streetcar Named Desire and I told me friend we had to go see that because I had loved the play after reading it in school, and I was pretty excited that Natasha was in it (though I referenced her as the mom from the parent trap then because I was only familiar with her from that movie). Of course, after I saw her live I fell in love with her acting completely and I've since seen a number of her movies. My heart is still so heavy over her passing, but I love the memory of that night and how magical it was to be in New York for the first time and to gush to her at the stage door how great she was. I can hold on to that and smile.
