| Fan Forum's Finest   | Dominic Cooper #1: The Newest British Heartthrob Welcome to the 1st Dominic Cooper thread  Full Name: Dominic Cooper Birthdate: June 2, 1978 Age: 30 Birthplace: Greenwich, London, England Parents: Mother, nursery school teacher; Father Siblings: 3 Brothers, 1 Sister Dominic Cooper is an English actor who was born on the 2nd of August 1978 in Greenwich, London. He attended the Thomas Tallis School in Kidbrooke, and then trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduating in 2000, he began his acting career in theatre productions such as "His Dark Materials" and small television roles such as "Band of Brothers". His first major role was in the play "The History Boys" (2004) in which he originated the role of Dakin, having been involved in the production from its very first reading. He stayed with the production for a further two years, appearing in the Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong productions, before finally playing the role for the last time when it was made into a movie in 2006. Since then, Dominic has starred in the film "Starter for 10" and the BBC mini-series "Sense and Sensibility". He will next be seen in movies such as The Duchess, The Escapist and the musical "Mamma Mia!" all due to be released this year. He is currently filming a drama for the BBC about Auschwitz which required that his hair has to be shaved off.    Trivia * He never thought The History Boys would be the huge success it was, but felt he ought to accept the role "because it's Alan Bennett". * Discovered in 2007 that he had a half-sister he did not know about after she got in touch with Dominic's father after seeing Dominic appear in Down To Earth when her mum said: 'Oh my God, he looks just like your father.' * He maintains that, despite the sadness of his sister's death when she was five and parents' subsequent divorce, his childhood was largely a happy one. * He only stayed on at school for A-levels only because the drama department wanted him to appear in a school play. * Whilst appearing in Part One the theatre adaptation of His Dark Materials as Will, when he wasn't needed on stage, he volunteered to play an armoured bear and a tartar guard both of which were "very hot and very uncomfortable" costumes. * If he had a daemon, it would be a cat.
