On September 10, 2004, the new movie, "Cellular", starring Chris Evans and Kim Basinger, will be released nation-wide in the USA, and one month later in the UK. It's a drama/thriller. I first noticed Chris Evans in the 2001 comedy film, "Not Another Teen Movie". Chris was great in it, and such a good sport to do all the wild and wacky stuff he was asked to do in that film.
In 2004 he was in "Perfect Score". It's now moving to various TV outlets, if you missed it at the theatre.
I think "Cellular" will be a great break-out role for Chris. He's very deserving of success. Well, at least in my humble opinion !! Some reviewers have liked him to a new Tom Cruise.

Every time I see the previews for 'cellular', I can't take my eyes off of him. He is so cute. I really liked him in the perfect score, too. He was a great leader.

"A lot of kids struggle with the SAT, that doesn't justify thievery!" Best line ever.

Hopefully Cellular will bust him out into the mainstream.

I live in Southern California, and sometimes go to local movie premieres. The premiere of Chris Evan's film, "Cellular", is scheduled for Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Arclight/Cinerama Dome, 6360 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, California. Arrivals start at 6:30pm. I hope to attend as a fan/spectator. It should be fun. The last time I was at the Arclight/Cinerama Dome, it was for the premiere of the film, "Just Married" with Ashton Kutcher and Britany Murphy. This was when they were dating eachother. There was one funny incident where Britany Murphy's fans spotted her, and started shouting, "Britany"! Britany"! Hearing this, some young girls who were tourists just passing by, ran up to see what was going on, but were disappointed when they saw Britany Murphy. They were hoping it was Britany Spears!

Sorry Chris Evans fans, but I didn't go to the LA Premiere of Cellular. My back was bothering me, last Thursday, 9-9-04, the day of the Premiere. The pain kept me home. I did see, however, on Friday, the entertainment TV shows: E!News, Access Hollywood, and Entertainment Tonight. All the shows showed clips from the Premiere, but they mostly showed clips of interviews with Kim Basinger. None spent any time talking with Chris Evans. Well, so much for those dumb entertainment news shows. There are pics of Chris and others who attended the Premiere from at the Daily Celeb site. Below's a link. But, on Saturday, 9-11-04, I went to see the film itself. Wow!! What a Fabulous role for Chris!! And he does great with it. Some nice shots of Chris shirt-less at the beginning of the film as he walks along at the beach. He's completely natural looking in this scene. They didn't do any body-wax removal of body hair, so you get to see what his natural pattern of body hair looks like. It's All Good. Like most leading man actors, he must work out at a gym regularly, 'cause he's in Great shape for this film. The film's very well done with close attention to storyline details that make it all seem very realistic. Very Fast paced, too. Good and inventive plot, as well. I don't want to give it away, but I think lots of people will enjoy the film, even if they aren't particular fans of Chris Evans.
My Advice: Go see "Cellular".

Saw 'cellular' again....second time in 2 days. I'm somewhat obsessed, no? Gaaaah. He's too pretty. He did a great job in the movie. He definitely has leading man potential. Kim Basinger may have been the 'star', but he was the one I kept my eye on the whole time.

Chris was excellent in the TV series Opposite Sex with Milo Ventimiglia. He has a real talent for comedy. It's nice to see he's now getting bigger films like Cellular

(3) FANTASTIC FOUR - Chris Evans co-stars and plays a super-hero, with actress Jessica Alba, who plays his wife in the film. Other co-starring actors are Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon, playing the villan, in this Marvel comic adaption for 20th Century Fox. The film is in production.

This is the one I'm looking foward too. BTW, Jessica and Chris are playing siblings. Chris is playing Johnny Storm aka the "Human Torch".

In the film, I spotted three tattoos on Chris Evans. They look permanent, and not painted on for the film. On the Left upper arm/shoulder is a steer's head with horns. On the Right upper arm/shoulder is what looks like a line of text. I never saw it clearly enough in the film to make out what it says, if it is indeed a line of english words. Below it is what appears to be a Chinese writing character that looks a little like a capital letter "A". What this Chinese symbol means is unknown to me. I wonder if there is anyone who reads this that can explain what that symbol means. I'm sure that anyone educated in Chinese writing could identify it. Nowadays people choosing a tat design frequently use Chinese writing symbols. It's sort of a trend with tats, and has been for quite a while. Too many tats are not good for actors. Many directors don't like them, and often insist that they be painted over with cosmetics before a scene is put on film. Directors know that photo processing often increases contrast over natural visual appearances, with the result that tats appear more conspicuous to the eye on film.

I've never seen Chris act, but he is dating Jessica Biel so he is fine by me. I'd love to see some of his work, though, I've just never gotten around to it yet. BTW, he's got GREAT abs.

Actor Chris Evans Evans could be on his way with 'Cellular,' which opens Friday [September 10, 2004].
__HOLLYWOOD - Is Chris Evans the next Tom Cruise? Chris Evans thinks so.
Of course, this makes Evans, all of 23 years old, seem like he has way too much self-confidence.
After all, his two biggest roles came in movies - this year's "The Perfect Score" and 2001's "Not Another Teen Movie" - that grossed a total of $48 million.
But the power of his positive thinking got him his biggest role to date, in "Cellular," opening Friday.
"We saw everyone in Hollywood," says David Ellis, "Cellular's" director. "There are a lot of good actors in Chris' age group - Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace, Jason Biggs, Shane West. We read all of them, but Chris stood out from the crowd. We wanted a cocky, good-looking kid, someone girls like. Chris is like a young Tom Cruise." It remains to be seen whether "Cellular" will do for Evans what "Risky Business" did for Cruise. The movie is a fast-paced thriller, with Evans as a surfer dude who just happens to answer his cell phone when Kim Basinger, a kidnap victim, randomly dials it in a desperate attempt to get help.
But there is already one significant way in which Evans is following in Cruise's footsteps. Just as Cruise has had a habit of dating his co-stars - Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz - Evans is romancing "7th Heaven's" Jessica Biel, who has a role in "Cellular." Evans says he and Biel, whom he describes as "such a sweet girl," have agreed to keep their dating private.
"Relationships are difficult," he says. "All that emotion and pain. I can't imagine opening a magazine and reading about my heartache at the newsstand. I said, 'Let's not be seen at clubs being loud and obnoxious. Let's not go to premieres or parties. Let's not get our picture taken.' She's all for it."
Evans has been acting professionally for five years, but he has been plotting his career since junior high. One of four children of a dentist and a dancer, who grew up in the Boston suburb of Sudbury, he says, "If you're a guy doing shows in seventh grade, it's easy to get leads because the competition is minimal. It fills your head with possibilities."
Actually, on this point Evans seems to be modest. One of his teachers in high school says the teen made quite a dramatic impression. "He was a very talented kid. He was in plays from the time he was a freshman and did all sorts of major roles, like Leontes in 'The Winter's Tale.' He was in pretty much everything," says William Plott, drama director at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. "There's only a handful of kids with that much talent, and he was certainly one of them, so [Evans' success] is not much of a surprise." Considering his work in teen movies, Evans may surprise fans with more mature roles. First comes "Cellular." Then in December, he will show his dark side in "Fierce People," with Diane Lane and Donald Sutherland. And he's playing a superhero - the Human Torch - in "Fantastic Four," which is currently filming.
While discussing his career prospects, Evans begins to show his ego once more - with the presumption that stardom may be oh-so-difficult to handle.
"Any leading man runs the risk of being flash-in-the-pan eye candy," he says. "I can't imagine anything worse than being looked at as kind of a joke, a shallow caricature of yourself.
"With 'Cellular' and 'Fantastic Four,' which is a big studio movie, I'm unfortunately stepping in a direction I don't want to go. But I'm going to say, 'No more big-budget movies.' I'm going to find the right director and the right part.
"And if I can't, I'm going to go into hiding."
