| Calling All Britney,kate,pamela,jennifer Fans!!!!!! Hello!! My name is Máiri Wilson, I am a third year student at Chester University, England. I am currently doing a dissertation on fandom and obsessive behaviour. I was wondering if fans of Jennifer Lopez, Pamela Anderson, Kate Winslet, or/and Britney Spears could possibly help me out and answer a few questions regarding obsession, your own fandom and other people’s fandom? Your info Name- Age- Occupation- Name of celebrity you are a fan of- 1) Why do you think people become fans? 2) Do you think fandom and obsession is related? 3) How do you feel the media represent fans? 4) Is this a misrepresentation of fans? 5) Do you think the Medias representation of fans is problematic? If so why? 6) What kind of fan behaviour do you think can be classed as obsessive? 7) When do you think fandom stops being a hobby and becomes an obsession? 8) How do you feel about your own fandom? Is it obsessive? Questions on MTV’s ‘I Want A Famous Face’ 9) A 27 year old Britney impersonator had breast implants to look like Britney’s on this show. She did this as she already resembled Britney and hoped with her breast implants she would be able to quit her day job and make it big-time as an entertainer. Do you class this as obsessive fan behaviour? Why? 10) A 21 year old female believes she already naturally looks like Kate Winslet, but with a body lift she would have her voluptuous body and book more modelling gigs as a plus size model. She had always admired Kate Winslet so picking her was not something she had to deliberate over. Do you think this is obsessive fan behaviour? Why? 11) A 19 year old female had breast implants, lip implants and lipo under her chin to look more like Pamela Anderson so she is hopefully able to fill Pam’s shoes as a Playmate and actress. Do you think this is obsessive fan behaviour? Why? 12) A 23 year old pre-op transsexual got breast implants, cheek implants, an eye brow lift, her eyebrow bone shaved and her hairline lowered to look like Jennifer Lopez, in hope of becoming a runway model. Do you think this is obsessive fan behaviour? Why? 13) If money was not a question would you have surgery to look like your idol? 14) How far would you go to look like your idol?
