Images of BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE as husband and wife are going on sale in Los Angeles - to raise funds for charity.

Photographer STEVEN KLEIN captured the couple playing a married 1963 couple in a spread for fashion and arts magazine W - and now he's putting the prints up for sale.

The Klein exhibit will begin next month (07JUL05) at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills

Pitt came up with the idea for the themed photoshoot, in which he and his MR + MRS SMITH co-star portray a couple with a strained relationship.

The couple are rumoured to be a real-life item.

For weeks, Jenifer Aniston has put up with a barrage of publicity surrounding her estranged husband, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie. But nothing compares to the latest - and most devastating - bombshell: the 9.5-carat, $1.25 million diamond ring Angelina wore to the LA premiere of their film, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

In Touch had learned that on the day before the movie's June 7th premiere, Brad was in Angelina's LA hotel room, helping her choose from an array of stunning jewelry that Neil Lane stylist had brought in.

An observer says Brad and Angelina "looked happy and comfortable together" as Angelina modeled the expensive baubles, and Brad offered his opinion on each. "Brad helped Angelina pick out the ring," the observer shares.

A proposal?

In addition, Angelina selected 15-carat diamond earring and - perhaps most tellingly - a $100,000 diamond and platinum eternity band that she had yet to wear public. She's since returned the earrings - but not the rings. And it had made some wonder if Brad seems close to purchasing the rings and proposing.

In recent weeks, the sexy co-stars have done nothing to dispel the suggestion. In the July issue of W, Brad and Angelina are featured as a married couple - with 5 kids - in a 60-page photo shoot that was Brad's idea.

Asked by Diane Sawyer if he and Angelina are involved, Brad responded cryptically: "There's a lot to put in place. I don't know what the future is." And at the Mexico City premiere of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, when a reporter asked Angelina if Brad was marriage material, a witness reveals, "She just giggled."
But these developments seem to have taken their toll on Jen. While in Chicago preparing to shoot The Break Up the 36-year-old actress has been spending her downtime holed up in her $5,000-a-night suite at the Peninsula Hotel - with no one but her bodyguard and personal assistant to keep her company. "When I passed her in the hallway, she looked fragile and tired," one hotel guest tells In Touch. "Her shoulders were hunched over. It was like she couldn't face the really world." On the opening weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which topped the box office with a staggering $51 million in sales, the Friends star remained behind closed doors, even canceling a dinner date on June 12th in favor of room service. Virtually the only time she left the room was for visits to the hotel gym.

And it appears Jen - who has tried to quit in the past - is smoking more than ever. "She used to buy single packs of Marlboro Lights, but now she buys cartons," says one witness. The Peninsula guest recalls, "You could smell cigarette smoking coming from her room as soon as you stepped out into the hallway."

The photos of Brad and Angelina on the beach in Africa, their family photo shoot in W, now Brad picking out jewelry with Angelina - while friends wonder how much more Jen can take, they know her resolve is strong. Hopefully, the bond she shares with Brad won't be broken by the tumultuous events of the past few months.

Jen needs to move on. And I can't imagine what Angie and Brad are going through. Secrets are exciting, but I bet they feel guilty, even though they haven't done anything wrong.
