Welcome to the 3rd Jack Sparrow/Elizabeth Swan Appreciation Thread

Biographies:

Captain Jack Sparrow
A pirate ahead of his time in many ways, Jack Sparrow likes to consider himself as the epitome of a free spirit.
He swishes his way through life with a slightly odd, but strangely wise attitude. He is perhaps a bit crazy, for we learn he may have been overbaked in the sun while marooned once.
But he still is smart enough to survive in a tough world without resorting to force to get what he wants. In fact he once said, "Why fight when you can negotiate?"
This leads to some people seeing him as a coward and truth be told Jack is not heroic in the straightforward sense.
He watches and reads people and gladly manipulates them for his own ingenious ends. That said, he avoids harming people for even his enemies only get what they truly deserve.
Jack has a sense of right that may fluctuate by circumstance in the details, but he still has a sense of honor. When the chips are down Jack will come through, if at all humanly possible, for his friends or the greater good.
Jack carries on his person little tokens or souvenirs from places he's been or people he's met. He has a habit of picking things up as he goes along, like the rings he wears.
His hat is probably his favorite article of clothing. A compass that shows its user what he wants most in the the world is another crucial possession.
He also carries a silver-plated pistol and a short cutlass. Jack's a good swordfighter, but compared to the other characters in POTC he is not the most skillful.
He probably wins in the creativity department though, he has used both an oar and a coconut as a weapon. He has a good eye and amazing aim, and is a bit of an acrobat.
Jack also has an eternal love of rum, like many other pirates, and is immensely proud of the Black Pearl, originally the "Wicked Wench", his ship. The first POTC movie focuses on his quest to reclaim the Pearl.

Elizabeth Swan
Elizabeth is a spirited and independent-minded character. Throughout the three films, she transforms from a modest young lady into a courageous pirate.
Elizabeth has always been fascinated by piracy and life at sea, but she is also revolted by pirates' aggressive, wild nature, especially when she meets Captain Jack Sparrow,
who made his escape from Port Royal at her expense. However, she was grateful to him for saving her life and unsuccessfully attempted to prevent his arrest. Even after becoming a pirate,
she retains her sense of propriety, as well as her loyalty and compassion for loved ones (namely Will Turner, her father, and later, Jack Sparrow).
Elizabeth easily adapted to piracy, although it is unknown if she remained a pirate following the events in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
She learned swordsmanship from her (at the time) fiancee, Will Turner. She is able to defend herself against multiple opponents and can fight using two swords simultaneously.
Elizabeth has natural leadership abilities, quickly learned seamanship, and displays a natural talent for battle strategy, having devised defensive and offensive maneuvers
against her opponents. It should be noted that she is the only character in the film to use a Chinese Jian as her weapon of choice, which is ironic considering the setting it was used in; the Jian,
known as the most civilized and elegant of all Chinese weapons, ended up being a pirate's weapon.

Jack: [Wakes up and sees Elizabeth burning the rum] No! Not good! Stop! Not good! What are you doing? You burned all the food, the shade... the rum!
Elizabeth: Yes, the rum is gone.
Jack Sparrow: Why is the rum gone?
Elizabeth: One: because it is a vile dring that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two: that signal is over a thousand feet high.
The entire royal navy is out looking for me, do you think there is even the slightest chance they wont see it?
Jack Sparrow: But why is the rum gone?

Jack Sparrow: [to Elizabeth] You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all. It should be a dress or nothing.
I happen to have no dress in my cabin.

Jack: Elizabeth!
[Turns to Gibbs] Jack: Hide the rum.

Elizabeth Swann: There will come a time when you'll have the chance to do somethng courageous, to do the right thing.
Jack: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.

Jack: [to Elizabeth] One word love; curiosity. You long for freedom. You long to do what you want to do because you want it.
To act on selfish impulse. You want to see what it's like. One day you wont be able to resist.

Elizabeth Swann: I'm here to find the man I love!
Jack Sparrow: I'm deeply flattered, lad, but my first and only love is the sea.

Jack Sparrow: I love this song. Really bad eggs. Ooh.
[falls]
Jack Sparrow: When I get the Pearl back, I'm gonna teach it to the whole crew, and we'll sing it all the time.
Elizabeth: And you'll be positively the most fearsome pirates in the Spanish Main.
Jack Sparrow: Not just the Spanish Main, luv. The entire ocean. The entire wo'ld. Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know.
It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs but what a ship is... what the Black Pearl really is... is freedom.

Elizabeth: You didn't tell them about the curse.
Jack Sparrow: I noticed neither did you. For the same reason, I expect.
Elizabeth: He wouldn't have risked it.
Jack Sparrow: Could have gotten him drunk. Oh, don't get me wrong, love. I admire a person who's willing to do
whatever's necessary.
Elizabeth: You're a smart man, Jack. But I don't entirely trust you.
Jack Sparrow: Peas in a pod, darling.

ELIZABETH: You didn't tell them about the curse.
JACK: I noticed neither did you. The same reason, I imagine.
ELIZABETH: He wouldn't have risked it.
JACK: Could've gotten him drunk. Don't get me wrong, love. I adrmire a person who's willing to do whatever is necessary.

JACK: Elizabeth ... it would never have worked between us, darling. I'm sorry.

JACK: Might I inquire how you came by these?
ELIZABETH: Persuasion.
JACK: Friendly?
ELIZABETH: Decidedly not.
JACK: Will strikes a deal for these and upholds it with honor, yet you are the one standing here with the prize.
Full pardon, commission as a privateer on behalf of England and the East India Trading Company. As if I could be bought for such a low price.
ELIZABETH: Jack, the letters ... give them back.
JACK: No. Persuade me.
ELIZABETH: You do know Will taught me how to handle a sword.
JACK: As I said, persuade me.

ELIZABETH: Thank you, Jack.
JACK: We're not free yet, love.
ELIZABETH: You came back. I always knew you were a good man. ...
It's after you, not the ship. It's not us. Don't you see? This is the only way. I'm not sorry.
JACK: Pirate.

ELIZABETH: Once we rescue Jack everything will be fine

JACK: Why should I sail with any of you? Four of you have tried to kill me in the past, one of you succeeded. Oh, she's not told you? Then you'll have loads to talk about while you're here.

ELIZABETH: It's my father, we've made it back. Father, here, look here!
JACK: Elizabeth ... we're not back.

JACK: Might I point out that we are still short one pirate lord, and I'm content as a cucumber to wait until Sao Feng joins us.
ELIZABETH: Sao Feng is dead. He fell to the Flying Dutchman.
JACK: And made you captain? They're just giving the bloody title away now.

ELIZABETH: Jack ... It would never have worked out between us.
JACK: Keep telling yourself that, darlin'.

Because they love to tease

Because Elizabeth went to the end of the world for him
Because he saved her from the sea
Because She is the only girl who didn't slap him
Because she still went in for a kiss at the end of AWE
