Ok, after a looooooong time, I finally wrote my thoughts on the movie, at the movies board, so I thought I'd bring it over here too, I hope it makes sense

I loved this movie

The beginning cracked me up, all the excuses that women all over the world come up with as to why men haven't called just not to admit that he's just not into them

Gigi's character may be annoying at a lot of times for being so naive, but I loved it that, in the end, she was just someone looking for something great, looking for the best in people. he was someone full of love to give and who just wanted to be able to share that with the right person, who would love her the same way too. That's what the story was about, to me. We all know love is something wonderful, that's why we spend our lives looking for it, and every time there's a chance of it happening, we hope it's finally the right person, the right moment. She's not wrong for expecting the best of men, and she's not wrong for wanting something great to happen for her. That scene where she fights with Alex (before he realizes he's in love with her too), showed exactly this. Maybe she had her heart broken a lot of times, but at least she felt things, at least she took a chance. I could relate a lot to everything she said to him, that was definitely one of my favorite scenes in the movie, and the most important (regarding her character and all the build up to that moment) to me. I totally shipped them

And the end, "You're my exception", awwwwwwwwwwww

The story I liked the least was the married couple, that guy was just disgusting

I loved the Neil/Beth relationship too

I loved what they showed with that couple, because it's something that a lot of couples go through. I've seen so many people say things like "We've been together for 7 years, it gets to a point where either you get married or you break up", and that always gets me thinking "uh, why not just enjoy the relationship as it is, why is that not an option?", you know? You don't need to have a wedding to have a real relationship, that's not the most important thing. She was worried about a detail, something that was important to her, yes, but to which he was just not ready. But being apart was good, for both of them. For her, because she realized what a wonderful relationship she'd be throwing away for something so silly (in comparison); and for him, because even if a wedding wasn't essential for him, he wanted it too, even more so because it was meant so much to her. The proposal was love, awwwwwwwwwwwwww

they were my favorite and its so true a lot of couples i know have been together for like 10 years and marriage isn't on the agenda for them.

I know, that's why it annoys me when I hear things like "A and B broke up. Oh but they had been together for 10 years, if you're not married after all the time, it won't work", it's SO not true, you see, my parents were together for 9 years before getting married, and they have been married for 34 years

The proposal was beautiful indeed

Yeah I disliked SJ's character, which is a shame since I normally love her, but this one I just didn't like her or that guy.

SJ and Bradley Cooper's characters were just so trashy. I liked the way their storyline ended though. I'm very glad the wife dumped him and that he didn't end up with SJ either.

yeah, agreed. i really LIKED that the wife dumped him NOT because he had the affair because she actually wanted to get past that but because he lied about cheating. i mean, if she could get past the affair and want to fix their marriage but HE admits to an affair but still lies to her about the little things... that's a really powerful message. i liked that.
