Oh you're learning to play the guitar? That's so awesome. My friend tried to teach me a few years back but he really didn't have the patience to work with me. I was a slow learner and couldn't catch on quick enough for his liking.

Ooh that sucks. If you don't have patience you shouldn't get started on teaching.
It's really important to not feel pressured into learning fast. For me it is anyway.
My friend is teaching me aswell, and he's really patient.

Ya you really need to be patient with people when they are learning to play a musical instrument, its not easy. I did try teaching myself after my friend stopped but that didn't work out well either. I'm glad you have someone that can be patient with you

that goes for a lot of things but especially a musical instrument.
I understand completely, I tried teaching myself first but I can't. I don't have the discipline. My brother teaches himself but he never does his homework or anything, so that helps.

Ya not doing anything else but teaching yourself would probably help. I don't have the discipline to do it myself either, I can't stay focused on it I need someone's help to keep me determined

I'm exactly the same way, so easily distracted.

don't know how I ever survived school. Probably cause they were on my neck.

I kinda don't know what to do.
I used to be friends with this girl, but we kinda lost touch.
But now the word's out on the street that her mother has cancer and it's not looking good.
We had brief contact via texts not too long ago, but I wouldn't say we're really a big part of eachother's lives right now.
I really don't know how to handle this situation. Should I wait for her to contact me?

I think in a situation like that you need to contact her. Whether or not your really in her life she could probably use all the support she can get right now and she might not be in the right frame of my mind to ask for it so waiting for her might never happen.

Speaking of learning to play guitar. I had guitar lessons before, I did learn one or two songs but I had to give up because I'm left handed and my teacher was too impatient with me.

that's just so sad that there are so many guitar teachers out there who just aren't patient with their students
