Sam (Jared Padalecki) tells Dean (Jensen Ackles) he wants to rejoin Dean in the battle of the Apocalypse, but Dean tells Sam that they are better off apart. Later, Dean awakens five years in the future in an abandoned city and is attacked by humans who have been infected with a demonic virus that turns humans into Zombies.

Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) appears to Dean and explains that this is the world that exists as a result of Dean saying no to helping the angels fight Lucifer.

Dean meets up with Future Dean, who tells him that the virus is the Devil's endgame for destroying mankind.

Misha Collins also stars.

Steve Boyum directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.

I just hope that Dean gets an attitude adjustment damn quick. I love him, but I just want to smack him! Thank god Ellen was there to do it for us! Yay Ellen!

I'm getting farther and farther from Dean as episodes pass by. I don't like it but yes, I am. I still love him but it's getting less and less.

It's just so hard! & if Dean were real for two seconds I would just be pleading and crying for him to call Sammy.

One thing I am genuinely lookin forward to with this ep is the zombie aspect. Gotta love those brain munching zombies...

I read that Sam is on for the last 10 minutes, so as I'm in England and watch it online, I'll just zoom through to his bits/parts (I wish I could zoom to his bits/parts) but the word my Jared addicted brain was struggling to find their is scenes.
I have never seen the episode In The Beginning because of no Sam (well OK 10 seconds, then I knocked if off)
I really like Dean, but his oneliners and soapbox speeches this series are falling flat for me. I feel for Jensen when he has to deliver these lines. Maybe the humour just doesn't cross the ocean
I am not a fan of Castiel, in fact last week was the first time I have paid attention to this character and I know alot of people find Dean/Castiel hilarious together and his facial expressions were good but I found some of the scenes abit forced.
I am enjoying Lucifer though and hope his attachment to Sam will become as popular as Dean and Castiel.

Can we just get passed this episode and get Sam and Dean back together where they belong, even if this is with Paris Hilton.

I've waffled off topic, so I'll be quiet and go.

I am really looking forward to this episode. The reason is spoilerish so I put it into tags.

Spoiler:

because Sam and Dean are reunited in the next one. So that means that something big must happen in todays episode. Especially when Dean is at the beginning not ready to let Sam in again. So there must something happen what changes his mind. And I am so curious about it.

Maybe Dean need this experience to realise how much he needs Sam - and Sam needs him.

Here we go again, Supernatural.

Is there any reason why it all had to be from Dean's POV? Why couldn't we see Sam falling off the radar until he said Yes to Lucifer? We heard and saw and watched all of Dean's reasons and regrets and what not about his choices and why he would do them again and why present Dean learned a "different lesson." We know all of this.

Yet we don't know how Sam did, why he said yes; we didn't see his reaction to a future in which he is Lucifer, etc, etc. WHY THE HELL NOT???

We're always left to assume about why/how Sam does what he does. No wonder people hate him. There's no reason to have to spend so much time and effort trying to connect the dots when Dean is there all likeable and perfect with no mystery, everything is explained and shown and dissected. While Sam is little more than the excuse to keep bad things happening to Dean so he has something to do.

Ugh... I'm in a bad mood. Thank goodness I waited until the episode was over to fastfoward every damn pointless scene, which were most of them.

Jules, I totally agree.

I like Dean, but I think hes soooo overrated. Like, his "humor" is annoying ot me now.

And I cant stand Castiel. I dont get the big deal about him, at all.

NOT ENOUGH SAM FOR ME. Not at all.

THe only reason I watch this show is because of Sam/Jared and SAM/Dean.

So yeah, not a great night for me.

And I totally agree with the post above.

We know so much about Dean and why he does the things he does and insight into his character and they just shaft Sam. It drives me absolutely insane.
