The Third Man
October 8, 2010 - The CW

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) call Castiel (Misha Collins) for help when they investigate a case about several dead police officers who seem to have been killed by the plagues of Egypt. Castiel confirms the staff of Moses was used to kill the cops and tells Sam and Dean that Heaven is in a state of chaos and God's weapons have been stolen. The three head off to find the thief and come face to face with an old enemy.

Bob Singer directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.

I'm still not so convinced on Castiel's involvement in S6 but I'll see his addiction as a glass half full instead of empty. Let's see what he can give to the overall S6 SL.

I haven't have much feel of what S6 will be all about. It's kinda hard to actually continue with the "apocalypse" theme; so hopefully, they'll be able to have a solid season plot soon.

Unlike S5 (which basically started end of S4) we have an idea what the Season will be about. I have read spoilers (and would not share here) but I still don't have the general story arc for S6.

Fortunately I read on the internet how the episode will start so I didn´t look at the screen when it happened. After the sounds my friend made by watching it I am so glad that I didn´t see it.

Then came to scenes I as a fangirl really appreciate…smile.
Dean and Sam with naked chests. Wohoho!!!
But enough of that!!!

Then again something really gross must have happened with the guy and his face – which I didn´t watch again. – Yes I know I am a confessing softy on these scenes.

I laughed out loud when Dean races Sam – that was a great little scene. And Sams comment afterwards was funny, too.

I really start to enjoy this episode when Castiel came into the picture. Because all of the gross parts where left behind and the real fun begins.

I love Castiels first scene – HELLO! – Sams reaction to these tiny little word was so hilarious. Maybe it wasn´t supposed to be but I couldn´t stop laughing at the way Sams repeats Cas Hello. Jared was soooo great and the looks between him, Jensen and Misha were brilliant.
“You like him better or what” I had tears in my eyes.
Indeed Castiel you are a little rusty with your human behaviour feelings and I love it.

I don´t know what to think of Balthasar but I like to see him again. He was cool baddie in some ways and I am glad that he came back to rescue Castiel. I am not sure if Rafael is killed now because it wasn´t a angel knife which stabbed him so if anyone could clear that up for me I would be very thankful. I wouldn´t be sad if he stayed dead because I always have trouble to understand what the actor who plays him have to say.

I love the last scene between Dean and Sam. Always love it when the just talk like that. Maybe my theorie that what happened to Sam in hell is in some ways that what happened to Buffy when she came back in season 6. That Sam was at peace with himself in hell because he thinks he belong there. Which truly would show how messed up he is and how far away from feeling great.

This episode was really great. i wish I knew was what coming with the gross parts like you sunny so I could have looked away but I didn't.

I could spend the entire post taking about Jared and his naked chest but I won't except to say. Damn!!!!

All of Dean's little digs at Sam's car was so great, I like that car a lot but its not the Impala and when Dean was racing him, or as he put it 'kicking his ass'

I couldn't stop laughing.

And I think that scene with Cas and the hello part was supposed to be funny because I couldn't stop laughing at Sam repeating it back to him.

Ive known something was off about Sam this season and I knew that he would have the reaction to torturing the kid but it still surprised me because Im so used to Sam being the first person to jump and protest it and then to see him hold Dean back from doing that was weird. And I think it has to do with something more than just being rough around the edges like he said.

Balthasar was pretty cool and I wouldn't mind seeing him again which Im sure we will because he still has all these weapons.

And Raphael isn't dead because it wasn't an angel knife even Balthasar said it would take him a while to find another vessel.

I was totally thinking that Sunny about Sam being at peace down there. It has to be something like that because he said it wasn't different than Dean's reaction that it didn't torture him. Like he really was meant to be in hell so that's why he thinks he belongs there and could be so okay with it.
Im really interested to see how he came back since we know it wasn't God or an angel.

Next week looks so good though!

Isn´t that the most heartbreaking and sad thought about Sam you can imagine. How low he must think about himself when he truly believes that he belongs to hell?

So maybe he appears to be at peace with himself but he truly isn´t. He is just so broken and messed up that he told himself time and time again that he is ok with it, that he starts to believe it - otherwise he wouldn´t have survived.

Ya it really is heartbreaking. I've always known that Sam thought little of himself but this is so much worse than that

Ya he told himself over and over that this is where he belongs and what he deserves and that was how he was able to survive however long he was down there.

In a way I kinda like that we are getting a different Sam this season. I have to put it like a character progression. Whether good or bad, it show Sam as a multi-dimensional character, which for me is very interesting. As much as I wanted the S1 Sammy; I also like how he's different. As long as there's a good reason for this change, I'm all for it.

And I also wanted Dean to play a big part in getting Sam back.

I loved the episode. I may have hated Castiel's existence in S5. I think he would play/have a better role in this season. I felt like this episode sealed the overall arc of the season. So yeah, it's interesting for me.

I wanted Dean to figure out Sam without the blame and all. I wanted him to accept Sam's pains.

I can sense the parallelism of this season opener to last year's when Dean came back from hell.
