Anyway, Jared was amazing tonight, he plays bad!Sammy SO well. I hate it that I think I may need to see more of that before Sammy is all well again because JP kills it. And the contrast to puppy Sammy is wonderful, like in the end, trying to work Dean with the little boy eyes but it the damage was done.

Hey everyone!

I'm only recently getting into the show. (I know I've missed a few seasons) but I really love it! My friend kept telling me I had to watch it because of Jared (who we both love) so I finally sat down three weeks ago to watch the episode 'Family Remains'. Loved it. I seriously need to keep watching and get caught up on previous seasons.

Anyways, loved this episode. I don't really know all that's gone on with the brothers but I felt sad for them at the end.

Bad Moon Rising indeed! Yes... The tear in the relationship absolutely hurts. If I watch an S1/S2 episode right now I'd start crying! lol

I was watching the episode that was on last week when they investigate the murders at their old school. OMG. The part with Dean as the gym teacher and the kids. LMAO. I must of watched that part 10 times.

Okay I watched it.

This episode broke my heart big time. It's true, words are sharper than physical pain. The things they said to each other Now, I understand why Nikki said it'll be hard to defend Sammy this time around.

When they mentioned Stiles and Murdock, I thought I heard it before. Anyone? Errr... Hell House? Was that Hell House? Murdock? Or The Kids Are Alright? I dunno, I've heard it before on the show. Anyone?

I love Jared so much on this episode. He played bad!Sammy, flirt!Sammy, hot!Sammy, bitchface!Sammy, puppy!Sammy and all the other adorable Sammys! I dunno how to feel after watching it. Mixed emotions - happy, sad, naughty, heartbroken... arghhh... plus hundreds of other emotions.

Oxytocin! Sammy smiling and flirting with Cara was to die for. And yes! Yes! Mr. Kripke, thank you for the shirtless Jared again. It seemed like he answered the plea of mankind! Great job Eric! Phew! Water please?! And Sam gets an action again. I like Cara.

I'd like to post a meta of the episode once I've fully grasped the episode. Right now, I'm off to watch My Bloody Valentine.

Yay, Gay!

Ohhh, Jared was fantastic, he played Sam under all the big emotions, fear, anger, lust, love, happiness, shame, sadness, and he was a mean bastard too!

I think Sam was entitled to his half of his rant, the other half was just meant to hurt and it was perfectly delivered to do Just. That. You were in hell, boo hoo. OUCH, under the spell Sammy. Jared ROCKED that stuff.

lol Jared's back should get its own place in the credits by now. But hopefully, they've filled the skin quota and from now we'll get lots and lots of plot, story and character development because seriously, I'm drooling here to see what the heck is coming next!

I think the exact date for the new episode is March 5th.

Haha, that was hilarious! He was so mean to those kids, but it was SO cute with the headband, the shorts and the whistle!! Dean loving the whistle giving him power. Too adorable.

All right… I’ve gathered my thoughts and I re-watched the episode.
As I was saying before, this episode hurt me so much. It’s painful watching them say those words… Sam lying; Dean not trusting him anymore.

I love how they (writers) built the tension in Dean when he found out Sam’s still talking to Ruby. I was anticipating how Dean will confront Sam with that. I also love how they mixed the Monster of the Episode to the mytharc to the brothers’ issues. It’s perfect, just like Criss Angel’s episode parallelism – this time it’s not just the parallelism, it’s on them already.

I think Dean had a valid argument during the confrontation scene; I was so hurt with the words he uttered. He just wanted his brother back. OMG! Jensen broke my heart – he’s fantastic. In Metamorphosis, Sam had accused Dean of calling him a freak and that he was unreasonably prejudiced against his powers. Dean finally broke his silence, "it isn't the demon blood, and it isn't the powers. It's the little things that say you aren't Sammy anymore, like the lying and sneaking around." I can understand why Dean wouldn’t want to trust Sam after everything that had happened. If I were Sam (in my brother!Sammy state of mind, I won’t have any answer to that but just a hug).

Nonetheless, after watching the episode again, I have to say I love where’s Sam’s heading. Ruthless and cold. (though of course, just temporarily – this season perhaps; plus Jared aced playing evil!Sam). Right now, I feel if both of them are always good and be just like what they were in season one, I’d get bored. I'd rather see a flawed Sam – it’s much more complex that way.
(Okay, speaking of season one, anyone thought of the “Winchester fight” in Asylum? It’s like a déja vu.)

Also, I thought Dean referencing Sammy with his monsters was really mean. Madison, Ruby and now Cara? First of all, Sam never thought Madison was a monster (just like what he thought of Jack the Rugaru). It had hurt him to have no choice but to kill her. Then Dean throwing it at his face – that Madison is a monster? That was mean. Now, I can understand the anger and frustration when Sam threw the phone. Dean doesn’t trust him.

Now, let’s go to Sam’s argument… I liked the set up that Sam is going darkside, even if it hurts. Yep, I’m a masochist! Sam's resentment towards Dean, seeing him as weak was very much in character. Anakin Skywalker, ladies and gents. I think Ruby’s influence is taking its course. For me I think it’s all in not understanding everything – Sam is lost. He’s blaming Dean for making him feel this way. I think it’s his way of blocking all the pain he had to deal with when Dean went to hell. It's easier to think his problem is about him being the better hunter and Dean's holding him back. But inside, in reality, what he probably just wanted was to go back to when Dean took care of everything. Ruby says that he can stop Lilith and he’s the only one who can do it. He doesn’t understand that Dean’s “holding him back’ because he doesn’t want Sam to be harmed and to be consumed by that demon blood. Dean needs to let him know that, somehow.
Here’s what I think Sam is thinking - Dean went to hell to bring him back; Sam never asked him to do it and somehow Sam took it all in. Oh yes, didn’t we also see the resentment from Dean when their Dad made the deal to get him back, too? So Sam may have been blaming himself for everything Dean went through in hell as well. His brother shouldn’t have to go through it if he never made a deal for him. Just like when their mom died, and Jess – it’s all because of his demon blood. I think what the writers want us to realize is that he is lost and is being reckless about it. He trusts Ruby because she believes in him. I know nothing good will ever come out of believing more in Ruby than his brother or using that demon powers, yet Sam is lost and blinded. He’s just thinking that the end will justify the means. Sam doesn’t care what happens to him, he just wants to end this Apocalypse and kill Lilith. He doesn’t want to grow old regretting everything that they didn’t do. Wicked, I must say, but that’s where he is right now.

I still think what’s happening to Sam is a character progression, logical. Everything was intertwined to what had happened before; everything is just answers from previous stuff that he has to deal with. Sam was always seeing Dean as his hero that he’s always following his footsteps. He wanted desperately to always get Dean’s approval. He sees his brother as the one he could always rely on. But now? He sees Dean as broken, weak from his time in hell. He’s looking for someone to be his rock. It can’t be Dean right now as he has his issues that Sam thinks happened because of him (because Dean saved him). Ruby’s manipulation, I think, is already getting into him. That and add the demonic powers that he wants to use to save people. Even if he won’t accept it, it’s already consuming him. I’m not surprised that Sam is shifting more into the demon side.

Okay, I’ll end this now as I think I’ve said everything I’ve already said. I’m not playing deaf and defending Sam for his actions and words. Yes, he was mean and that was uncalled for. I can understand the uproar to punch Sam in the face. I just wanted to point out what are the possible reasons why I think Sammy is Sam right now. The progression and all, again, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I entirely agree with everything, especially about the parallel of the deal fallout between John/Dean - Dean/Sam.

Here's the thing, Sam was mean when he was under the spell, Dean was mean before he was under the spell.

Sam is not or has ever been a punching bag, though he's sometimes treated as one. So if the siren's spell unearthed some resentment, that's about as much as anyone could have expected from this guy who has always taken everything to heart.

OH YEAH. lol I have a brother and a sister, being the youngest one I've had to come up with mean insults to make up for all the height and weight they have on me. I feel like crap afterward, though. It's more painful to yourself when you hurt someone you love.

I love my brother and sister to death and back, so the boys are probably feeling like dirt after everything was said and done. I can't even imagine since they're always together. Hee, oh Kripke.

OMG! That's it. We've got something in common with Sam and that's why we understood him more...

I'm bringing this up here, too.

I was thinking perhaps some were getting too literal - saying that it's just twice that Dean's told Sam about the time in hell. Yes, twice vocally, but the pressure and seeing how Dean deals with it can count as the many times that Sam is saying. Again, Sam may have been exaggerating it because of the anger and the spell. Yes, the spell, I wouldn't blame it on the spell alone though. But it does count, right? The truth is, anger is also just a social reaction to hurt. It’s doesn’t necessarily mean it is right or good but it is normal. When you’re angry you don’t really allow yourself to feel your inner vulnerability and hurt. All you can think about in the moment is your desire to get revenge, to defend your pride, to do something—anything—to create the feeling that you have power and importance. I think this holds true with Sam. In his dire attempt to defend his pride (because he feels that he’s nothing and useless because of that blood and his actions that he kept from Dean) and hurt (since he’s seeing his hero Dean as vulnerable and hurt), he turned to anger to hide his defenselessness. He hides his vulnerability with the aggression; he never knew or recognized that the hurt he felt seeing Dean like that triggered his hostile reaction – as some say, emotional fraud. Thus, he told Dean is weak and a lesser hunter, when in fact, maybe, subconsciously, he’s just talking about himself. Now, same goes with Dean, he was hurt when Sam kept his interactions with Ruby a secret. Sam calls and says Cara was not a fraud. He said that monster reference. Yes, he is angry. He used anger to blurt out his pain. That’s why I said I understand why Dean did say it. I think it’s low and hurtful, but I do understand it. And I think the same with Sam. It’s wrong, it’s uncalled for, but I do understand him. -------- Oh, plus, Castiel is just one person (or angel) that they encounter in their lives. Yes, he raised Dean from hell and they may learn a lot from him; but to totally say thank God for Castiel for Dean is an overstatement, I'm sorry. Life is a series of lessons we learned. We wake up everyday knowing what's right and wrong because either we see it from other people or experience it. We learn from all the different people that surrounds us, not only one. So I think if Sam is not Sam - if there's no Sam - just Dean, Dean will not be the Dean that we know. Dean would be different. If Sam is the perfect little brother, I think Dean will not be the perfect big brother now. They need each other and that's how life works. Even if we don't want Sam right now, in the end, Sam is still his sibling - not Castiel, not Ruby.
