That's really a tough question Ani. Back then, he hadn't really had gone through all that much crap and he still believed in the good so much that I don't think he would have sacrificed an innocent person to save Dean even if it was his brother. Sam was all about saving the innocent people back then no matter what.

I agree with Nat Sam would've probably look for another option while trying to stop the culprit from taking another person's life.

I'm so glad that he didn't know about it. I know its sad that an innocent man had to die for Dean to live but I wouldn't have it any other way

I would too but only for family. I'm so selfish for my family I would do anything possible to save them and I wouldn't really think about the consequences. That's how Sam is now, he'd do anything to save Dean no matter how many people have to die but back in season 1 he wasn't ready to do that just yet

Yep, only for me family, too.

Sam had changed definitely. Though, his heart remains weak for his family. We could see him tougher this time around but I don't think that his heart changed when it comes to Dean.
