Season 3, Episode 8
A Very Supernatural Christmas

In this Christmas-themed episode, Sam and Dean follow the trail of an "anti-Santa" that abducts its victims by using their chimneys. Dean tries to get Sam to celebrate Christmas like they used to but Sam doesn't want to accept that it could be the last one they'll spend together.
Let's discuss.

Sammy's first ever Christmas present to Dean! I also adore the flashback when Dean went out of the room then came back he said he's got Sam's dinner. He's an amazing older brother. He's just everything you need to feel safe. I love wee!Dean as much as older!Dean.

Nonetheless, the whole pagan gods being the antagonists in the story was kinda off. Yeah, I was talking about some weirdo obssessed about pagan worships (and have misguided beliefs), not the gods themselves killing people.

But then again, Sam's voice cracked again when Dean was telling him about that being his last Christmas. And Jared's teary eyed OMG! I felt he's not acting anymore, it really showed, love Jared as Sam! I was actually waiting for him to say "I love you, Dean' but I guess they do away with it since there are tonz of slashers around (yours truly included). (Speaking of slashy moments, how cool was it that when Sam was back up the door, Dean leaned on the door and it looked like he was pinning Sam against the wall ) Okay, enough about Wincest.

I love this line! So hilarious! Oh and yes, the Silent Night version featuring Dean and Sam

(Yep, I cheated. I just reposted my comments from my LJ. )

gah
I know Gay, he stormed out and came back with food. Gotta love Dean Winchester.

A couple of my best friends believe in pagan gods (Celtic ones) and I myself am very interested in pagan religion. I tried not to take too much offense. The gods weren't Celtic anyway.

The scene about it being Dean's last Christmas made me cry. The looks, the breaking voice, the subject...
the last scene made me cry aswell. Sam was so awesome for giving his brother the last Christmas he wanted.

I should watch the ep again to see that scene in this new slashy light.

When I think of the humor in this ep, right off the bat I think of the really horrible joke written at Sam's expense that makes him look like a total weirdo. And of course I still laugh because 1) I laugh at lame jokes & 2) I love Sammy looking bewildered in the aftermath of the joke.

More later after I rewatch it.

Ani Yep, at that time, they haven't dealt with the religious stuff - the angels, God, the whole nine yards. And it was a bit off that they have tackled Pagan worshipping and it seemed awful. But anyway, I probably was just too sensitive when it comes to people's religion.

But in all this episode was great! The comic relief, the angsty stuff. Perfect!

I loved this episode too. It had so much going on, and was funny at times, and heartbreaking. I just avoid watching the scene where poor Sammy's fingernail is pulled out - ouch!

^ you know, I've seen the ep twice now and I've seen that bit twice aswell. I just can't seem to look away. I do everything else, I sit on my hands, I tangle my fingers in my hair, I bit my own nails, I clasp my face, I yell "oooowww!" but I can't look away.

I do know what you mean Gay. I tried to look past it.

I loved Silent Night.

I thought, at the end of the episode Sam was more like Jared. I don't know if I make sense with that, but Sam looked like Jared. Because of his laugh, his wide smile and we don't see Sam laughing very often like he did at the end of the episode.

I know it sounds crazy.

I think I know what you mean. Now let's see if I can write it out, even though I'm still half asleep. Yeah, it was as if the little parts of Sam, that are very Jared-like, were creeping through at the end. Do I have it?

Yeah it's very interesting when an actor will have their character do something they will do the same way IRL. I wonder if it was a conscious or unconscious decision?
