Ya it seemed to me that Dean really couldn't love anyone else. He tried to with Lindsay and it just didn't work. Rory screwed with him way too much and that pretty much ruined his chances of finding love again

I know! And it sucks! I hate that she ruined him so much that he wasn't even recognizable by the end.

I think he was capable, just convinced himself he wasn't because she was his first love and somehow this made her perfect in his eyes, even if she wasn't, even if he could be happier with someone else. He was a young boy with a very loving heart and somehow, for pain and for idealism, he didn't let himself heal from his broken heart and really move on. He jumped to a new relationship to deny his wound and because of this convinced himself Rory was the one. I think someone needed to make him see his real possibilities, he was the kind of guy who could have few true friends still he had none because he was marginal in the story, I think that was wrong to do, because even if it was a fiction character people grow attacked to him (like to the others) and writers need to pay more attention. I mean, if I watch a show for years, at least once a week in the end I know them better then my own family who leves with me so they can't just expect me to move one, I want them to have love, wherever it comes from, instead after Dean and Rory broke up again (for what reason? "We are too different"? And he should realize this now? that's bull****t) he just fell from the face of the earth. I could accept that with Jess since he moved, but not with Dean that still lived in Stars Hollow. I'm not even a true GG or Dean fan, but being a fan of other characters and shows I know how it feels when they treat someone you love so poorly.

I get where your coming from Ross, Dean should have been shown some respect on his departure, I know it's not like the show fired Jared or anything, but the least they could have done, was let Dean walk out of town with his head held high, or at least tell us something that let us believe he did.

I was very disappointed by the way they handled Jared's departure, but they did get a couple bonus points for trying toget him back.

(which I think even if Jared couldn't have gotten out to film it, couldn't we still have had our Dean/Rory ending, through onesided letters of phone calls? something!

Dean so got screwed with the ending they gave him, and his relationship with Rory, which was her longest and most life changing even after he left.

I agree with Dean not wanting to look past Rory, but I understand him. When you meet someone different, really funny, or really smart it tends to make everyone else blah. Rory went through the same thing with Jess & Logan, she had those "they're not Dean" moments, only she had to move on as the lead of the show.

But Rory was pretty hung up on Dean too.

Oh, I know. When I remember why they broke up in S5, it makes me so mad. "I don't belong here..." WHAT? Then what the hell have they been doing the last 5 years? Please.

That was a great post Ross and yes, I would agree with that. Dean's character had so many potentials and they were not fully utilized. Yes, Jared's going to SPN but the writers could've at least (like what Bee said) had him get out of town with dignity. He was part of the main cast of the show back in s1. He was Rory's first love, he was Rory's first kiss, he was Rory's first in everything! How can they just shrug him all away. I feel betrayed!

It could've been a better deal if Jared could've returned in the final season to claim what Dean had always have - rory.

That would've been huge! Dean coming back... But imagine an RD ending? I think I'd still be jumping around a year later!

He was great as Dean and i loved him so much of course. I was so excited for him scenes and when i watched him or their(Dean/Rory) scenes i was feeling happy myself.

Yes, Season1 was the bestest Gilmore Girls season. You would completely fall in love with Dean and you'd understand Rory for gushing too much about him. He's the best kind of BF that a girl could get. It was also interesting that he's not rich, it adds more problems to their love story.

Haha, the party would never stop after an RD reunion that's for sure. It would've been one of the most exciting tv moments EVER.
