So I thought we should have thread for it. Any news etc should also be brought here.

I'm not pretty sure about the rules on spoilers, I'll go check it out. But for now let's talk!

So do you think it'll be good? I did like the first one but I'm not much into it.

It looks like the remake of Friday the 13th has its new iconic figure. Yes, the character is still Jason Vorhees, but the actor behind the mask has been revealed, assuming they keep the hockey mask, which wasn’t a part of the original Friday the 13th, since Jason wasn’t even the big bad in the first movie.

Actor Derek Mears is no stranger to the horror genre, recently playing in the new The Hills Have Eyes 2 as well as an episode of Masters of Horror. According to Bloody-Disgusting, the actor will play the new version of Jason in Platinum Dunes remake of the classic series. While it’s not finalized yet and negotiations are still going on, the news has been confirmed through at least one other site through separate means, so this is pretty official.

I’m not a fan of the Friday the 13th movies (I was always more of a Freddy Kreuger fan), so I really have no opinion on this other than wondering why we need a remake when another sequel would be sufficient. The actor looks creepy enough and the fan sites out there seem excited by Mears, however, so we’ll take this as a potentially good sign for the remake.

If finalized, Mears will become the second official member of the cast, joining Jared Padalecki who will play one of the teens Mears will get to torment.

I'm afraid of Horror Movies so I won't watch the movie at the cinema. I'll have to wait for the DVD-release

But I'm sure that Jared will do a great job.

Jared isnt playing a teen in the movie lol. The producers have released a description of his character and he is a detective in his mid 20's.

I am sure things could change but as of right now, Jared isnt going to play a teen lol.

also this girl is apparently already signed on definitely for the movie. I think she's pretty hot imo.

I'm still bummed they're even making a remake

Why spend time and money on Jason when they could do another Freddy!

but with Jared and now Amanda, this is going to be a great movie!

I love Amanada's work, and she's super pretty. Her and Jared would be a super cute couple.

....if that's what the movie is going for.

I only know Amanda Righetti from when she was on the O.C. and I know Odette Yustman from October Road, but that's it.

Bee according to IMDB they're doing a remake on 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' too.

Seriously?

Why?I love the orginal! The orginal has Johnny Depp! I'm all for them making a new Elm street, but not making a remake of one. WTF Hollywood!? Both movies are classics! quit messing with that! Same with Jason, make a NEW Jason not a remake, but the remake doesn't sound like it will be a remake remake, you know? like a different spin on the orginal...kinda.

Which is better.

Thankfully it has Jared to soften the blow.

I'm protective of my horror movies.

Amanda was also on Reunion, and some beach show that is escaping my brain, it was about a beach resort and she helped run the hotel or something (it was also on FOX)

I remember reading it on Michael Bay's list last time I was there, but went and check it again ealier and my eyes didn't deceive me.

You could be right about it with being that it won't be a remake remake and I hope you are definitely right about it.

It was also never shown on TV here in Holland neither.

Thanks for the info Rella, i'm stil disturbed but hopefully they do an amazing job of both movies.

I think you'll like Amanda, she's a great actress.

and it's been said but she really is gorgeous, one of those people that just takes your breath away.

so putting her with Jared, Excellent idea!

Yep, Johnnie Depp was really funny looking there but hey he's still amazing.

EXACTLY! ITA! Do you know how much I'd squee if I found out Jared was in an Elm street movie?!

You'd hear me from there. All my faves (Minus Jensen) have been in one of the Elm Street movies. Freddy has much more class then Jason, Jason just kills people, Freddy has quick witt!

and a theme song, the one two freddy's coming for you thing.

...Jason didn't have one did he?

I can't remember. ...but I'm sure Jared will make me love Jason as much as Freddy.

...unless Jason kills him then my Jason hate will be back.

Another horror movie Jared would be great for...Childs Play!
