TV.com always has trivia, quotes and info on each ep. Thought we could start a thread for it and then if we wanted to add our own favorite quotes, we'd have a place.

Pilot Info:

The role of Wilhelmina was originally played by Charlotte Ross. However, when Ross decided to pass on the role for another ABC pilot, Pink Collar, Vanessa L. Williams was cast. Pink Collar was never picked up by the network.

The series was originally shot in New York. However, filming was then moved to Los Angeles.

Ugly Betty was originally scheduled to air on Fridays at 8/7c. However, after scheduling revisions, ABC decided to air the show on Thursdays at 8/7c.

ABC has decided to offer the series in Spanish also in order to recruit Hispanic viewers. Viewers have the option of watching in either English or Spanish.

Sex and the City was a popular American cable television program based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell. It was originally broadcast on the HBO network from 1998 until 2004. Set in New York City, the show focused on the sex lives of four female best friends.

Betty: Hilda, I am not going to sell Herbalux.

Herbalux is a form of herbal medicine used in foreign nations.

Trivia:

The telenovela that was showing on TV has real Mexican soap opera actors, named Marlene Favela and Sebastian Ruly.

Gina said that the LCD display were better than Plasma display(PDP), but when both technology are compared, Plasma TV is still offering better quality/price than LCD, who is quickly closing the gap. The LCD could theoretically, in a few year, after the technology evolved enough, replace the Plasma display.

Allusions:

Justin: I saw Prada like, seven times.

This is a reference to the film "The Devil wears Prada" realeased in 2006. The concept for both the film and this show are very similar - a non attractive woman goes to work as an assistant at a top fashion magazine. (edit)

The National Geographic Magazine, later shortened to National Geographic, is the official journal of the National Geographic Society. On rare occasions, special editions are also issued. It contains articles about geography, popular science, world history, current events and photography.

Trivia:

Mexican Telenovela Actress Marlene Favela makes her 3rd cameo appearance on the show, this time she's paired with Actor Luis Roberto Guzman

The song that Walter sings to Betty at the end is, of course, "Beauty and the Beast" from the movie "Beauty and the Beast". It doesn't really come as a surprise that the song comes from a Disney movie since Disney owns ABC.

On the Town is an American movie musical from 1949 starring Gene Kelly, a famous song and dance men, as a navy person on leave for the day. He and two other navy friends-Frank Sinatra being one of them-go off into New York and have a night on the town all in their twenty-four hours of leave.

Claire Meade: Today is sponsored by the number 26.

This is an allusion to the children's tv show Sesame Street where each day was 'sponsored' by a number and a letter, which would become the theme for that day.

The title "The Lyin', The Watch and the Wardrobe" is a pun on the book titled "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis. The book was also recently made into a blockbuster film under the same title.
