New Ugly Betty Set Photos!
New Ugly Betty Set Photos! by Tom on January 21st, 2009 Here are some new photos from recent filming of Ugly Betty in NYC! These are from an outdoor scene with America Ferrera and Michael Urie. A few of them seem to be taken during the actual filming of the scene, others appear to be between takes (especially the ones with America Ferrera out of her Betty glasses). I wonder what’s up? Is Marc actually cooperating with Betty? Or is this some plot of his to get ahead in YETI? We’ll just have to wait and see. As for the style, it’s typical Betty. The various pieces are wonderful, some even spectacular. But the combinations are hideous. I STILL love that purse! For those of you who were crazy about Michael’s curly hair earlier in the season, he’s gone to a more sculpted look here. Is he carrying a manbag, or is that some kind of whacked out briefcase? If these were taken yesterday, Urie says at his blog that they took a break from filming to watch the inauguration yesterday. He’s even got a pic! Speaking of pics, there are many more after the jump! Tom Ugly Betty Still Hanging In There On The Renew/Cancel Index by Tom on January 22nd, 2009 As many of you know, we’ve been watching how Ugly Betty has been faring on the Renew/Cancel index at TV By The Numbers. In short, the TVBTN folks have come up with a formula that crunches the internals of the weekly ratings numbers for all TV shows, and uses those numbers to rank the shows on their likelihood of being canceled. The formula relies heavily on the 18-49 “demos”, because apparently there’s an almost direct relation between the demo numbers and a show’s survival. The history of “the index” is that it’s quite accurate. (That’s always been true, this is just a good way for a numbers geek like me to evaluate ratings). Anyway, Ugly Betty throughout season 3 has teetered on the line between “Not Likely To Be Renewed“ and “Renewal Likely for 2009-10“. As of this week, the show is listed on the line again, but still in the “Renewal Likely” category. Of course, we haven’t had an influx of new episodes to measure lately, so we’ll just have to see where Betty moves the next few weeks. Betty has actually fared pretty well against venerable powerhouse Survivor in the demos (actually winning the Young Women category most of the time). With Survivor in mid-season hiatus, now is make or break time for Ugly Betty. One possible pitfall, though, is the fact that it is now going head-to-head with Fox’s Bones, a show that has done much better than Betty thus far. __________________

Get ready for an UB break!!
ABC sets up Thursday and Wednesday comedy blocks 'Scrubs' joins 'Better Off Ted' on Wednesdays, while 'Samantha Who?' and 'In the Motherhood' go to Thursdays Monday, Jan 26, 2009 By Daniel Fienberg ABC has established hour-long comedy blocks on Wednesdays and Thursday, announcing premiere dates for "In the Motherhood" and "Better Off Ted." Each new show will be paired with an established comedy, as ABC has also moved "Scrubs" and "Samantha Who?" to new slots. "Better Off Ted," a workplace comedy starring Jay Harrington, Portia de Rossi, Andrea Anders and Jonathan Slavin, will premiere on Wednesday, March 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET, following "Scrubs," which will be transplanted to Wednesday in the 8 p.m. time slot. Meanwhile, on Thursdays, "Ugly Betty" will take a break, opening up the Thursday night 8 p.m. hour for "In the Motherhood" and the Emmy nominated "Samantha Who." ABC's new Thursday comedy block will premiere on March 26 and "Ugly Betty" will return when the two shows complete their runs. "In the Motherhood" stars Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines and looks at a group of friends dealing with the trials and tribulations of motherhood. The "Samantha Who?" move follows last week's announcement that this new installment of "The Bachelor" will air in two-hour blocks for the duration of its run, leading into "True Beauty." ABC sets up Thursday and Wednesday comedy blocks on Hitfix __________________

i think that with this latest development, this could be a sign that ABC is trying to ditch ugly betty. i'm dissapointed because season 3 has been excellent so far and yet the viewing figures haven't mirrored the quality of the episodes themselves.
if the worse does happen, then i'd urge every fan to email ABC with complaints and try to get silvio by emailing him as well and to get it back on air, when possible. __________________

UGH WHAT that irks me sooo bad, I swear they better not pull Ugly Betty for good *sighs* dont get me wrong I LOVE Samantha Who but I love Ugly Betty more and I will be REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY Mad if they just pull it off the air. (they already did with a few of the shows I watch so if they do it with UB mark my word I WILL BE sending strongly worded mail to ABC)

ABC denies Ugly Betty axe
5 hours 27 mins ago Officials at US TV network ABC have denied hit series Ugly Betty is set to be cancelled - after announcing plans to take the show off-air in March. Skip related content Related photos / videos Enlarge photo The programme, starring America Ferrera, is being pulled mid-way through its current third season run and replaced by new episodes of Christina Applegate's Samantha Who? and comedy In the Motherhood. The move prompted fears the series would be axed following the season three finale, but TV executives have now issued a statement assuring fans the show will be back. An ABC spokesperson says, "Ugly Betty will return following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who? The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats.” ABC denies Ugly Betty axe - Yahoo! Well it's reassuring to know they're saying the show won't be axed...but I'm going to miss not having any new UG episodes to watch during that month. I need my Betty fix.

This kind of news is never good.I'm a bit worried that they are going to pull it.And to think this show is in danger when there is some utter rubbish on tv.Let's hope it doesn't get canceled .

that's ok. i am hoping that when the show does return, the viewing figures will be on the up again. i'm just baffled though- why has season 2, which for me was a dissapointment in many respects given the direction it was heading back then, with the ongoing gio/henry/betty love triangle which was boring the hell out of me, has better viewing figures than season 3, when season 3 was for me the most interesting? now if this had been season 2 on a hiatus, then i suppose it wouldn't bother me that much, given how much i dislike it- but the fact that it is season 3, i don't get that whatsoever. i will say though that contrary to what others have made out, season 3 has been great so far- though it's such a shame that not many people appreciate it as much.
considering how big a fan base this show attracts, cancelling this show would invoke the wrath and fury of many fans like myself. it's not doing as bad as others have made out- if anything, much of the criticism being levelled towards season 3 is from the benry and getty shippers, who still feel peeved at the way the writers decided to drop those characters. and yet this show is not about betty and henry or betty and gio but of betty and the other characters. __________________

I'm choosing to stay optimistic about this - if the show had been cancelled, they would've just come out and said it, but at least we know it's definitely coming back. Even with falling ratings, ABC would be stupid to let this show go, and they know it, so we try not to worry about it too much.
And you never know, maybe when the show returns, so many people will have missed it that they'll tune in and the ratings will go up again! *fingers crossed* __________________

our very own michael urie just posted this on his official blog today:
BETTY'S NOT CANCELED come on, really? Here are the facts: We are going to finish shooting our original 3rd season order - 24 episodes (currently on 16). At the end of March, we're going off the air for a while, at a time when we would normally be on for a few weeks, off for a few, confusing and angering fans with repeats. In June, we come back, and finish the last 6 episodes of the season without interruption! This has been done with lots of ABC shows over time, like LOST and Desperate Housewives. We've got great real estate on Thursday nights at 8pm, and the network wants to share it with other shows! It makes sense. Doesn't mean the end of Betty. keep watching!!!! In fact, go buy some episodes on iTunes for fun! :0) MICHAELURIE.NET __________________
