Wow, you already have a new avie. Gorgeous.

I definitely don't like this year's finale as much as last year's. I'm disappointed how they wrote Henry/Betty in this episode to be honest. I still love them, but it was too awkward when Henry just showed up and proposed. He didn't even catch on too much. It just made me sad.

I didn't think it was awkward, it was just out of character/crazy to barge in and propose. The episode was going through the motions without any real passion behind it. It was just being dramatic since it was the finale. A lot of things didn't even make sense.

The finale was definitely not that great compared to season 1. Things just kept on happening without much sense. And for our fave couple, as much as I love them, I wouldn't want them to get married just yet, but I really appreciated Henry's love for Betty. So how about that ending? Think she went for Rome?

The episode was pretty inconsistent.

I just don't even know what to say for these two, because I don't like how the writers wrote them for the finale. I know it was all for the sake of drama, but like you two are saying, it doesn't make sense.

As for the ending, I don't know. I am trying to get hints from whatever I can - the dream, Betty's departure - but I can't figure it out. There wasn't a ring on her finger when she was leaving, though, and someone brought up the point that Hilda (and maybe even Daniel) would be there to say goodbye if she was moving. Plus, she didn't leave with much. However, that doesn't necessarily equal Rome with Gio. Some think she went by herself. Last night I was leaning more towards Rome, but I think a trip by herself is looking more plausible.

I definitely don't think that was Betty moving to Tucson. I mean for one thing, even if she was going to go, she has more respect for Daniel and the magazine than to just quit with no notice. Besides on a personal note, if they laid off my friends to move the show to NYC and then they have Betty move to Arizona, there will be blood!

I'm hoping she traded in the first class tickets for some coach tickets to somewhere else for a trip on her own. To "jump" into her own life, by herself. I mean, since we've met her, she's never really been on her own. She lives with her family. She's been in relationship with Walter off and on. Then she started crushing on Henry and they got together off and on. Now she's crushing on Gio and they have a burgeoning relationship. I'd like to see her travel some (since Daniel isn't around for her to assist) and then maybe get her own place.

This is my guess and what I'm hoping. Regardless of any ship preferences this makes the most sense to me and is something I'd love Betty to do and think she needs to do before getting married or before getting in a serious relationship with Gio.

It does make the most sense. Even looking at her dream, she didn't choose either, but just "jumped". I think she needs to be single and independent for a while. And I'd love to see her getting her own place in the fall, Jenn!

Goodness knows we need as much Henry/Betty love as we can get since the writers are so adamant about screwing with these two and making thair actions totally OOC.

Even with all the crap they throwing at these two we still manage to get new fans to add to the list: welcome Live in Love.

girl in a cardigan, I'd say we agree on the whole Betty not going to Tucson because there's no way the show would work like that. (No matter what the ship, the genral consensus seems to be that Betty should choose herself. See: DreamWalker's post). And on my own personal note, if they finally move to NYC only to have Betty and/or Henry not there for shooting, heads will roll! I want a pic of America and Chris, damnit!

Steph, thanks for posting those wonderful screencaps. I'm feeling icon inspired...

But first, I just realized that we're the only ship thread without a Reasons List! Even Amanda/Daniel have a reasons list! So to cheer myself up on the gross mischaracterization of Henry by the drunk/high writers, I'm going to try and compile a list. I encourage the rest of you to come up with reasons as well: looking back on season 1 and early season 2 will definitely bring back the H/B love!

I'm doing a bunch of other stuff so maybe the icons will come later BUT I compiled a bunch of reasons already.

The Lyin', The Watch, and The Wardrobe

1) Because he recognized her costume as Nymphalis milberti. (Just something he knows) and she impressed him with her knowledge of the circumference of the earth. (It's 24,901 miles, BTW)
2) Because she was sooo "flirting with Henry from accounting".
3) Because he stapled her wing for her!
4) Because when she turned down his lunch invitation he looked dejected and embarrassed but when changed her mind and accepted he looked relieved and excited.
5) Because she was willing to "spread her wings" and try sushi with him.
6) Because when he realized she was nervous, he did everything he could to make her feel at ease - including revealing his Halloween "secret identity" (Super Accountant FTW!)
7) Because her "cheeky finger" wanted to lead her to Henry and tell him she had a wonderful time at lunch.
8) Because he understood that she had a boyfriend at that time and backed off.
9) Because they looked adorably nervous in the elevator.

Fake Plastic Snow

10) Because she had a dream she was kissing Henry. ("Just something I know" flirting included!)
11) Because he immediately apologized after bumping into her and scattering the fake plastic snow.
12) Because he was going to be "top of her" for the next few weeks... party-wise, leading to much awkward cuteness.
13) Because she thinks his talent for remembering useless facts is cute.
14) Because when he mentioned mistletoe she immediately flashed back to her dream and got jumpy and embarrassed.
15) Because she watched him dance and grinned when he had something on his nose (she told him about it, of course).
16) Because she tried to run away from her feelings and still managed to be found by Henry (when she bumped her head against the desk she was hiding under). He happily lent her a hand in getting up.
17) Because after lying as to why she was under there, she grabbed a nearby purse, claiming she had dropped it, and unknowingly pulled out a bunch of condoms! (Much to his amusement and her mortification.)
18) Because slow-mo and romantic monologue by Daniel doesn't lie: "You make my heart beat faster. You make my palms sweat. You do take my breath away."
19) Because when she saw that model kiss Henry, she ran away heartbroken.
20) Because he immediately pushed the model away and ran after Betty (but didn't get to her on time).
21) Because he called her to explain and still wanted to watch Rudolph with her (but she didn't get his message thanks to a nosey Hilda).

Swag

22) Because the first official meeting of Henry and Betty involved her almost missing a deadline with accounting and then stealing his bagel and coffee.
23) Because despite the above, he wasn't really mad at her and the two faced an upset Daniel together.
24) Because she brought him a coffee and a bagel to replace the one she took from him. (Peace offering.)
25) Because he was willing to help her uncover Wilhelmina's "props and extras" scam: the first time they pair up to solve a Mode problem!
26) Because they shared a brief smile when Wilhelmina was found out.

I'm Coming Out

27) Because he still wanted to explain to Betty about the Christmas incident (even gently grabbing her arm when she tried to walk away).
28) Because he did some serious poppin' and lockin' to put a smile on her face (that was the first time she'd laughed all day.)
29) Because he got her a Mode shirt that was closer to her size and would look better on her, then quickly clarified that she looks good no matter what.
30) Because when she found out that Hilda didn't forward her his Christmas message, she was ready to kill her big sister.
31) Because during the fashion show, Henry smiles and waves cutely at Betty, a gesture she quickly returns (brief scene reminscent of their last scene in Swag.)

Brothers

32) Because he likes her glasses and her nose.
33) Because he invited her to see her favorite musical: Wicked (he remembered her humming the song and declaring she wanted to go see it, earlier on the elevator).
34) Because he was less than happy to find out that Betty only wanted to go see it as friends.
35) Because he got her a shirt for the show and wrote her a nice little note in anticipation of the big night.
36) Because after his ex-girlfriend showed up, he gave over his Wicked tickets to Betty and suggested she take her boyfriend, Walter.
37) Because earlier that day, Betty broke up with said boyfriend and when Henry left her with the tickets she just stood there, stunned.

Derailed

38) Two words: Jealous Betty.
39) Because she had a nightmare that Henry had a hot ex-girlfriend and even in her awful dream, he looked sort of apologetic (and he called her headgear cute).
40) Because he looked just the tiniest bit uncomfortable hugging his old girfriend in front of Betty. (Partly because Betty made friends with her before realizing she was Henry's ex).
41) Because once again, she hides under a desk to get away from Henry and her feelings but this time it's Amanda who gives away her whereabouts. ("What? I'm bored.")
42) Because Henry was afraid her friendship with his ex, Charlotte (aka Charlie), would make things weird between them.
43) Because Betty denied there was any "vibe feeling thingy" between them, and Henry looked hurt that she said that.
44) Because she gave Charlie the cold shoulder when they were heading to a party, and all her negative feelings and jealousy culminated in Betty purposefully losing Charlie on a train.
45) Because Betty felt guilty about mistreating the already meek Charlie and when she confessed to Henry, he didn't place any blame on Betty, rather he asked if it was something Charlie did/said that made Betty act in such a rash manner.
46) Because she said she broke up with Walter because of Henry and ran off in tears.
47) Because he followed her out of the subway, paid for her pretzel, and got her some mustard even when she tried to drive him away.
48) Because she admitted she fell out of love with Walter and that's why they broke up, not because of Henry. He in turn admitted it was the right thing to do (though her timing sucked).
49) Because he was sure she would meet someone new; someone who would see how wonderful, caring and beautiful she was.
50) Because after his little speech, he leaned in to kiss her... but they got interrupted by Charlie.

Icing on the Cake

51) Two words (again): Jealous Henry
52) Because the whole time Charlie was trying to invite Betty to her birthday party, Betty and Henry kept sneaking glances at each other.
53) Because after Charlie leaves, he allowed Betty the chance to back out of the invite but when she refused to do so he seemed glad she was coming to the party.
54) Because he went down to The Closet to deliver the address instructions to her. (It'll soon become apparent that he makes any excuse he can to see Betty)
55) Because he is surprised to see Betty bring a date to Charlie's party... unhappily surprised.
56) Because they both like the same cake: chocolate rasberry from Magnolias.
57) Because when Charlie kept going on about what a perfect couple Betty and her date made, Henry just said he barely knew the guy and kept his arms crossed and expression tense.
58) Because they watched each other sadly as they danced with their dates - Henry looking particularly gloomy when Betty and her orthodontist date left the party together.
59) Because he brought her a piece of birthday cake the next day at work and wanted to know where she went because he didn't get a chance to talk to her much.
60) Because she couldn't stand to see Charlie and Henry together so she told him it would be better if they kept a professional distance.
61) Because it was clear on both their faces that they were unhappy about being "two people who work in the same building".

Don't Ask Don't Tell

62) Because he knew Betty's favorite flower: pink Gerber daisies, her favorite pizza topping: pepperoni and mushrooms, and her favorite Disney princess: Cinderella ("Her mother always read that to her before bed.")

Petra-Gate

63) Because at this point, Henry is getting tired of Charlie. (He thinks she's needy and she thinks he's avoiding her)
64) Because she had a daydream involving him in spiffy new glasses... not exactly a romantic daydream but a daydream nonetheless.
65) Because he told Daniel that he missed her.
66) Because he caught her in The Closet doing fixing her hair with a steam cleaner but said nothing
67) Because we get the return of our crime-solving duo! (Last scene in Swag)
68) Because they have a cute scene where they mirror each others' moves (sitting on the couch, crossing their legs, and facing off against their adversaries only to look bored a while later)
69) Because together, Betty felt like Wonder Woman and Henry felt like kind of a bad ass.
70) Because in the end, they admitted they missed each other and we got the beloved Twirly Hug! (Which was unfortunately seen by Charlie)

Secretaries Day

71) Because he wanted to crash the Secretaries Day or "Administrative Professionals Day" party and Betty was happy to put him on the guest list (without Charlie, per his request).
72) Because he has a thing for knights, dragons, and princesses, then gallantly takes Betty's hand as a thank you for letting him come to the party at the Middle Ages themed restaurant.
73) Because she affectionately called him a nerd and he responded that "you know you love it".
74) Because when he found out she wanted to ride the mechanical bull for the prize money, he grabbed her hand and tried to lead her to a safer activity.
75) Because when Christina told him the money was to help her father, he offered to ride the bull in her place, despite having no experience at it.
76) Because during his phone call with Charlie, it's apparent she suspects something is going on with him and Betty.
77) Because when Henry's name is called and he's no where in sight (still on the phone with Charlie) she steps up to the plate, all too easily calling herself by his last name.
78) Because after she was knocked off the bull by Nick the uber-jerk, Henry rushed to her side to make sure she was okay (she was dazed but seemingly more upset that she lost).
79) Because he got angry at Nick for hurting Betty and shoved him.
80) Because he was ready to stand up for her and challenge Nick to a duel - Middle Ages style! (He was even winning at first.)
81) Because she tried to tell him he didn't have to "defend her honor" but he insisted that he did and put a little paper crown on her head.
82) Because during the duel, Betty indulged in a little fantasy where she was a princess and Henry was her knight in shining armor. (Complete with heroic thank you kiss)
83) Because after Henry was beaten badly, Betty rushed to his side and apologized for letting him go through with it.
84) Because he told her that he loved her... then fainted.
85) Because she tried to wake him up and confirm what he said but as soon as he regained conciousness Charlie was on the scene ready to take him home.
86) Because Charlie acknowledged that he looks at Betty a certain way and she's actually jealous of Betty.
87) Because after Henry and Charlie leave, Christina points out that he's doing the honorable thing by staying with his girlfriend; the very trait that led Betty to fall for him.
88) Because she thought it was nice to have someone rescue her for a change. Especially him.

A Tree Grows in Guadalajara

89) Because he was worried enough to leave her a comforting message on her answering machine before she and her family went to Mexico. (Something Hilda found so sweet but so geeky)
90) Because even though she was trying to forget him she kept seeing him on her journey in Mexico.
91) Because when she followed his apparition, it led her to her long lost grandmother's house.
92) Because her grandmother's words urged her to fight for the man she loves and her father encouraged her to leave him in Mexico to go after Henry.

East Side Story

93) Because he knew her voice on the phone and declared "ringle" was his favorite new word.
94) Because when she finally declared to him that she would fight for him and that her mouth only went dry for him he responded that he felt the same way about her and he broke up with Charlie.
95) Because they nearly kissed in the copy room at Mode but after one too many interruptions settled on having their first official date.
96) Because she was nervous but excited to make Henry dinner and she shared words of wisdom with her father via phone.
97) Because he looked so joyful and smitten when he brought "Pink Gerber daisies for his lady". (...right before Charlie dropped her pregnancy news.)
98) Because she supported him in doing the right thing with Charlie and mused that for one day she was happy they were together. He wistfully agrees he was too.
99) Because they shared a bittersweet goodbye kiss in Central Park, and reluctantly pulled apart.
100) Because when she found out Charlie's baby might not be his, she was ready to channel her inner chick flick heroine and go after her man. (Unfortunately, more drama would keep her from catching his flight before it leaves).

Hi all! I know It's been a while but I have to say I am very distraught about what I am seeing the Betty/Gio thread is at the top of the list and look at where we are. What has this world come to? Betty and Henry have to end up together or my world is going to be turned upside down!
