I do agree with you on everything you said, but I think it was just so the writers could say "this is stupid daniel" and then his scene with Ignacio was "this is daniel realizing" and then the scene with his family was "this is daniel growing" so it was all sort of a set up, but I'm hoping after last night's episode he's learned his lesson.

I couldn't agree more. The writers are trying to make the character change believable. I am glad that they are starting to show how all the characters lives are intertwined. Its starting to make alot of sense again!

Daniel is one of these people that literally needs to get smacked in the face before he gets it. But I am hoping that what Ignacio said really made Daniel think about his life and where he wants to be at right now.

Hi all

I've posted a couple of times before though you probably dont remember. A very big Betty and Daniel devote here.

I just want to know, has there been any developments between Betty and Daniel this season, even if its just very subtle?

I'm from the UK and they finshed a couple of days before season 2 finale last year. So as you can imagine we're really lagging behind! I'm getting major Ugly Betty withdrawral, especially when these two are concerned.

Any information you have or even spoilers would be great, thanks.

That's so true about Daniel.

I also hope that Daniel tries to be there for Betty. He recently had a relationship end and hers is coming to an end, so it's the perfect opportunity to get a really good meaningful scene between them. Anyway, I think I would love if Daniel just came up to Betty and asked if she was okay and how things were going before jumping into Mode drama.

I'm glad you're back, though.

As for developments, what you're seeing in season one is just getting deeper this season. They're still great friends and always there for each other. They're not thinking about each other romantically, which most of us love as it's just such a great love story. Daniel and Betty do have one fight early on in the season, but Claire intervenes and they are great again. I think the most subtle moment of the season for these two, which is my favorite D/B moment of this year is when Daniel's father, Bradford, is in the hospital. Betty gets really concerned for Daniel and goes to the hospital. She puts her hand on his shoulder and without even looking to see who it is, he knows it's Betty and just takes her hand. It is such a beautiful scene. You will absolutely love it.

I love her for it... but I still think Charlie took advantage of her even if she did apologize. But on the same hand, Daniel is way to eager to find his soulmate that he lets his gaurd down and gets hurt.
I think sometimes its easier for Daniel to enjoy the moment if that makes sense. Betty thinks too hard, and gets caught up. In other words sometimes she needs to relax.

Like I think Claire would like nothing better then to have Betty as her daughter in law. I love what she said to Daniel last espisode, I forget the exact line but it was like ", your last girlfriend lit your apartment on fire and almost killed your assistant, you need therapy"

I could see it getting in the way a little. I really want a scene where Daniel gets a little bit miffed and is like " you dont talk to me anymore " I dont know why, but I really want to see that.

I feel like there trying to show he has some issues. He's growing...but when he gets hurt he reverts back to the behavior of a 17 year old boy.

I feel like its going to be a long road for him; but eventually hes going to be okay.

I love the little things, like you said Steph with the hand holding. I just really enjoy seeing this relationship slowly progress.

It would be nice to see Daniel not be so selfish. That aspect gets kindof old. Its time for Daniel to start acting like Betty in a sense and for Betty to take on some of Daniel's persona aka just enjoy life a little and not worry about others

Yeah he definitely uses sex as an escape. I really wouldn't be surprised once Daniel starts going to therapy that they realize he is just depressed. He has alot of angry and hurt issues with his father and who knows who else? Theres alot going on there. Daniel really needs a father figure and Ignacio is the perfect match for him. Ignacio doesn't have a perfect history aka killed a man

But Ignacio is trying to show Daniel he is more than what people tell him he is. Its okay to scew up but learn from your mistakes. I think that Ignacio and Claire see what is going on between Daniel and Betty. It makes me wonder if they don't want them together because they don't want to see Daniel hurt Betty but yet Daniel needs Betty as his father told her he did. That moment when he told Betty that Daniel would be lost without her, I was like WOW that is so true!

Very true statement. Its sort of like Daniel is trying to understand this whole adult role when Betty has been living in that status for most of her life. Its really interesting to see how well these two mesh together. They really are opposites yet so much alike its ridiculous!

My opinion on Ignacio and Claire regarding the D/B relationship is Not so much that they see it and dont neccasarily want it to happen because they dont want to see thier kids hurt again BUT that They want THEM to realize what thier feeling ,I kind of think that Ignacio was trying to get Daniel to see He loves Betty when he gave him that little Speech *shrugs* thats just my opinion anyways THAT being said I've been rather busy this weekend HERES all the Videos I've made

Well Ignacio wants Daniel to realize that he's actually got alot more going for him than he thinks. Daniel just needs to stop trying to live up to his father's standards and be the man he needs to me. Personally I think that Daniel is still trying to match up to what Alex was in his fathers eyes. Granted is father is dead but for Daniel its sortof like he is still trying to reach that goal that is impossible. It seems that Daniel had a really rough childhood and what we learned from last week's episode that he just wants to be accepted. Ignacio is comfortable in himself because well he had to confront some things long ago and now he knows that he is a better person for that. He just wants Daniel to deal with the issues and move along and if Daniel realizes what he is passionate about than just maybe Daniel will get the big picture.

I can't see Claire or Ignacio wanting Detty together just yet because they both have issues to deal with and still growing up.

They want them both to become people they were destined to be

speechlessInitially I think thats what I meant,they dont want them together right NOW because they know that both of thier children need to grow up EMMENSELY before realizing they have feelings for eachother but once it DOES happen they'll be happy for them
I also agree with your thoughts on Daniel I think in a way he is like Betty in that He has self esteem issues thinking He cant ever be better then Alex ONCE he learns he can He'll realizes Betty's the one he should be with WHICH Initially I think that had been what Ignacio was trying to get him to see

I don't think so. I don't think Daniel's feelings are anywhere near loving Betty (romantically, anyway) right now, and he has no idea about what he feels himself, so I doubt Ignacio can see those feelings, let alone push on them. I think while that scene was a lovely parallel of the "parent-child" dynamic we saw between Claire and Betty earlier, it was a prime example of the "father-son" bond between SuperDad and Daniel, and it was Ignacio honestly wanting to help and support a young guy who obviously needed it.

I think Steph pretty much summed up the development between Daniel and Betty this season. It's been fantastic, to say the least, with angst, humour, affection, care, love - there are too many amazing moments to mention. You have to try watch the rest of the season as soon as!

I agree with your last post, Sadia. While Ignacio knows Daniel cares for Betty, there aren't romantic feelings between Daniel and Betty for Ignacio to pick up on. I do love that Daniel went to the Suarez house, though, because it was obviously to talk to Betty.
