More US drama series could play out as part of ITV1's primetime schedule, depending on their success Stateside.

Last month the channel picked up the rights to JJ Abrams' new project Six Degrees, committing it to a primetime slot from early 2007.

The broadcaster also acquired a trio of "brand-defining" new dramas - The Black Donnellys, Raines and Smith - for each of its multichannels, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4.

Acquisitions head Jay Kandola is now priming those series for a key slot on ITV1, should their popularity call for it.

"If there's good US comedy and drama, it has a place on ITV1," she said at today's launch of the US series. "All people want is good TV... they don't give a stuff if it's a UK drama or a US drama."

ITV will premiere Six Degrees to the public at the Edinburgh TV Festival this weekend.

Would ITV be the UK equivalent of ABC? How come it gets multi channels?

Um...I don't really know what ITV is equivalent to. BBC, ITV and C4 (which are the main terrestrial TV channels over here) each have digital stations as well which you need cable, satellite or a digibox to watch. The multi channels often air stuff that will later appear on the main channel or they show sport or more niche shows. For example Channel 4 has More4 which tends to show documentaries and politically based stuff and E4 which shows more "teenage" shows like Smallville and The OC or live Big Brother.

I think it's just a way of making more money and trying to get a bigger share of the market really

ITV is a bit crappy if you ask me though

The former "thirtysomething" star is heading to New York to help the creative team on the ensemble drama series about six strangers in New York who are drawn into a mysterious web of coincidence that gradually brings them closer together.

Jace Alexander, who had been co-executive producer on "Degrees," has exited the show, which was created by Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner. "Degrees" shut down production for a week this month, industry sources said.

Horton is not expected to take on a formal role on "Degrees." He will remain an executive producer on "Grey's" in the upcoming season and is working with "Grey's" creator Shonda Rhimes on her new drama pilot for ABC.

I think with the exception of a couple of affilates, Global (a television network in Canada) will be airing the show on Wednesdays at 9 pm. You can find more information here by clicking on the affilate that is closest to your location.

Maybe everyone will be on a total high from watching Grey's that they will just to take a minute or two to breathe, and then Six Degrees will come on and hold them hostage.
