Lauren, I gave you the explanation for why they call it Root beer on the OT thread before we did the Bates watch. Back in the old days when fathers were still allowed to bring their sons into bars(before they began checking ID's), the father would order a beer and he'd order a "soft drink" for his son. Soft drink meant non-alcoholic beverage, which is why sodas are called soft drinks today. The reason a root beer was called that was because it has a thick foam top like a real beer, even though it's actually a root extract-flavored soft drink.
And for your information, Coke(Coca Cola) was originally made to be a less-dangerous alternative to morphine, because Coke contained codeine, which is a drug that comes from cocoa beans. Cocaine and coffee also come from cocoa beans. They eventually had to remove the codeine from Coca Cola because people were getting high off of it. I like the sound of all those places you mentioned, Lauren, __________________

No, you're not, Lauren. They took the codeine out of Coke back in the early 20th Century, back when Coke was still sold in glass bottles. I miss those things. They still had glass bottles when I was a kid, but they also had the plastic ones and they stopped making the glass ones except for special occasions. Oh, and have you ever heard of Ginger Ale, Lauren? That's another example of a soft drink with a beer-sounding name. "Ale" is a type of beer brewed from malted barley using a warm fermentation with a strain of brewers' yeast. Compared to lager yeasts, ale yeast ferments more quickly, and often produces a sweeter, fuller-bodied and fruitier taste. Ginger Ale isn't really ale at all, it's a ginger-flavored soft drink, but you get what I mean, right? Both Ginger Ale and Root Beer have nothing to do with beer or ale at all, they're both early soft drinks that men would order for their sons at bars instead of real alcohol. And what's Minotaur? __________________

You thought ginger ale was alcoholic? What is your favorite book? __________________

Hi, 3Cats! You're from Australia too? And Smoakin Queen's name is Lauren, by the way.
We do have some Coke in glass bottles, Lauren, but they're hard to find and are usually in six packs. They make them a lot during the holidays. Those are all good choices for books. Mine are Dracula and 'Salem's Lot. How about you, Lauren? __________________

That's because Lauren never answered my last question, Sam. And the last movie I watched was Into The Woods.... which is a total lie because it was actually 50 Shades of Grey.
Lauren, you can answer Sam's movie question after you answer my question about what your favorite book is. __________________

Okay, I'll do that when I finally visit Aus.
So I guess no one is going to Comic Con this year? Well, I can't afford it this year anyway. Who is your favorite Avengers castmember? __________________
