Minka Kelly portrays Lyla Garrity, Panther’s cheerleader and girlfriend of star quarterback Jason Street, in the NBC television drama “Friday Night Lights.”

No stranger to the camera lens, Kelly has had a successful career in modeling and television commercials.

She had a recurring role on the WB’s “What I Like About You,” and has guest-starred on NBC’s “American Dreams” and Fox’s “Cracking Up.” Her television debut was on Nickelodeon’s hit show “Drake and Josh.”

Most recently, Kelly completed shooting a lead role in the independent feature “The Dinner Party.”

Kelly currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Her Birthday is June 24.

I love the name Minka, its very unique. But I already saw the pilot and I thought Lyla was cute. I do think she might eventually get on my nerves. I think my favorite of the chicks was Tyra. The coach's daughter Julie we really didn't see that much of her for me to have an opinion on her.

I think it's the fact that she kind of gives off this impression that she's cute and she knows it. Almost like it an act (obviously it's an act for the actress

but i seems like the character is sickeningly sweet)

I don't think that there is a 'typical' cheerlearder character anymore on tv shows, imo.

Hmm. I didn't see any depth in the Pilot episode. She might get better as the series progresses.

I don't have a favorite yet..but I that I figured out the only time she annoys me is when she has a scene with Jason. She's too 'cute' and 'sweet' around him. It seems fake

Yeah I didn't like that scene either, I guess it was supposed to show how much they love each other, but it just seemed too saccharine to me.
