L: Tyra, is that you? What are you doing here?

T: Oh nothing, just wishing I could build a time machine and go back and shoot
whoever it is that invented algebra that’s for sure.

L: See that’s actually a catch 22 though, because to invent that time machine you may
need to use algebra.

T: You know I already have a tutor if that’s what...you can just run along.

L: Okay. Let me just ask you one question though, did your tutor teach Tim Riggins to read in
about a day and a half? No, okay. Is your tutor the top of his calculus honors class? Did your
tutor score a 77 on his PSAT math portion? No. I just really think you need the A team on this
and you got Mr. T standing right in front of you. And T stands for Tyra’s algebra tutor.

T: Seriously?

L: I’m really good at math.

T: Hey Landry.

L: Tyra.

T: Listen about the other day what happened...

L: What other day?

T: Okay cut me a break here I’m not very good at this. I’m sorry about what I said.

L: It’s not that big of a deal.

T: I mean I don’t think you’re a geek.

L: No, just a pathetic and you know don’t have any friends.

T: Okay, I don’t think those things either. I was just pissed because well...

L: Do you think that I really wanted to tell someone Tyra?

T: Well, I know why you did. I was just feeling burned about everything that
happened and I took it out on you. I’m trying to be better at a lot of things.

L: So I guess that explains why you’re getting back with Riggins then.

T: What? I’m not back together with Riggins. No, I’m just here as his friend.

L: Right right, see you say that now. But then what about the after party, when the
beer starts flowing, and Riggins comes in with his cute but tragic ‘Texas forever’
routine, what about then?

T: Okay, Tim and I are just friends Landry.

L: I know this whole thing is none of my business because you’re a big girl and
you can do whatever you want but do you really want to spend the rest of your
life with someone that cheats on you and who drinks all the time, who’s just
going to end up working at a gas station and you know puking all his paycheck
up? Is that what you want? You know he’s going to cheat on you some more,
then you’ll have a few of his not so biologically gifted kids.

T: Are you trying to make me take back my apology right now, cause it’s working.

L: I’m sorry, but for some reason I really just think there’s a guy out
there that’ll show up sober and that will listen whenever you
talk, and that will actually you know respect your opinions
and will actually take care of you and will actually recognize
you for the smart and beautiful and caring woman that you
are Tyra. That guy...

T: Wow Landry, your own personal rally girl I guess you’ve arrived.

G: Anyway, we can work out the details later. I just wanted to say hi.

L: Do you think that all human beings are capable of evil?

T: I’m going to borrow him for a second.

L: I mean obvisously some are...I was asking her a question you don’t need to rip me away.
I’m not a little kid, you don’t need to hold my arm.

T: What the hell are you doing?

L: What am I doing?

T: Yeah, are you insane? You have got to hold it together.

L: Do you have no empathy about anything Tyra? Do you have ice water running through your veins?

T: Okay, that’s not fair you don’t need to tell me that.

L: A human being is dead because of me. What are you doing? You’re out trying
having a great time.

T: You know what he was a rapist okay. Stop acting like he was some kind of saint.

L: So that makes it okay? I’m not acting like he was a saint.

T: Act like a man then.

L: You want me to act like a man?

T: Yeah.

L: See, that’s real easy for you to say because you’re not the one who killed him. Are you? You don’t
have to think about that, you don’t have to close your eyes and hear the sound of his skull cracking
every time you go to sleep, do you? Don’t tell me to act like a man. Because you know the thing
about this is I would do that again for you in a second because he hurt you and because I’m in
love with you all right. And don’t don’t look at me like that don’t, because you’ve known, you’ve
known forever it’s not some big secret all right. Let’s just not pretend like this was some great thing
we did, and just don’t tell me to become a man all right, because if that’s you’re definition of a man
that’s extremely sad.

L: How did you get in here?

T: I’m glad he’s dead. God I, you know he, Landry he wasn’t going to stop. He was just
going to keep on doing that to me. Maybe something’s wrong with me but I am, I am so
glad he’s dead. I just, I wish I was the one who killed him.

L: Don’t, don’t say that.

T: No, you are the best guy I have ever known.

L: Stop.

T: No, and if anything happens to you because of me, I would never I would never forgive
myself. I’m so sorry.

L: No, don’t be sorry, there’s nothing to be sorry about. We’re going to be fine. Stop, we’re
going to be okay. (they kiss)

T : Hi

L: What are you...are you okay?

T: Yeah, no I’m good. Um, well...

L: You okay?

T: Yeah, no I just...(she kisses him)

L: Tyra, look we don’t have to do that, I don’t want you to regret...

T: It’s just you know what, shhh, just be quiet. (they kiss) No one’s ever cared
for me so much. (they kiss)

L: I feel like I’m choosing between jail or hell. Will you please just tell me the truth,
were you in fear for your life? Were you honestly in fear for your life Tyra?

T: Yes, yes. He would have raped me, he could have killed me. If you, if you hadn’t
been there....you saved me.

T : Hi.

L: Hi. Where’s your date at?

T: Well, apparently he’s in the bathroom puking. I don’t know what I was thinking.

L: What were you thinking? I just don’t get it.

T: Landry will you sit down with me for a second please...You know
how I feel about you.

L: No, I really don’t.

T: I like you...a lot. Actually I, I've never felt like this about anybody.
You make me feel too much Landry. It freaks me out.

L: I don’t know what that means, what does that mean?

T: It means, it means I’m sorry.
All I need is just a little time to think about things, figure it out.
Does that make sense?

L: No, it doesn’t, it doesn’t make sense at all. I’m really sorry about this too. The thing is that
I know that you’re better than this, better than the girl that has to sit over here alone because
her date is too stupid to stay sober for one night. I know that you’re better than that, but the
thing is that you don’t. I don’t know what I have to do to make you see that, but I can’t just
keep waiting around until you finally realize it. I can’t, because I’ve tried to show you that, I
don’t know what else to do. So have a good night.

T: Hey Landry. Hey Landry, hi.

J: Hey Tyra.

T: How are you doing?

J: Good.

L: Hey, did you see Sharks too?

T: Oh yeah, great great movie. Um, can I talk to you for a minute?

L: Sure.

J: Yeah.

L: Yeah, is that okay?

J: Yeah. No, go ahead.

L: Is everything okay?

T: Yeah, this is hard to say. I’m just going to say it. Look, I like you. You were right
okay, I do like you. I want to give this a shot.

L: That’s what you came here to say, was...?

T: Yeah.

L: I mean, I mean I’m on a date right now, Tyra. And she’s not embarrassed of me, she’s
not embarrassed to be seen with me, she actually likes me. The last time I checked you
were kind of somewhere in between, unsure to be together...

T: That’s not fair Landry.

L: Confused and...

T: That’s not fair. We both know how we got together and it wasn’t exactly under normal
circumstances. It was, it was messed up and scary. And yeah I was, I was confused but
I’m not now.

L: I mean I’m on a date.

T: Okay, right.

L: Look, I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to say.

T: No, no I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. You know what, you have a great night and I’ll just
see you around.

T : Hey. (they kiss)

L: Hi.

T: Hi.

L: Um, I’ve actually got to go. There’s just kind of a spot with my name on it on the bench.
And I can’t miss that so.

T: But I’ll see you after the game.

L: Yeah. (they kiss)

L: I don't mean to step on your toes or anything, but you might want to try cutting those a little bit thinner just
because cucumber sandwiches are kind of delicate.

T: Really?

L: Did I just lose a lot of man points for that?

T: You know, I'm trying not to keep count, but yeah, yeah you did.

L: Did I tell you that I'm in a band though?

T: See there's like 40,000 man points, see so you're in the black.
Did I tell you I got my SAT scores back?

L: No. Are you going to let me see them?
Well you went up.

T: Yeah.

L: You went up like a 100 points, that's awesome.

T: Yeah, I needed to go up like 200 to make up for freshman and sophomore year. It's fine.

L: This is still really good.

T: Mm.

L: Can I say something?

T: Mhm.

L: Most girls that look like you do, things are easy, they can just coast by on their good looks for the rest
of their loves and not really have to, not really have to worry. I mean, I know it sounds stupid,
but I'm proud of how hard you've been working for this. I mean it says something.
I just think good things are going to happen, you just got to keep going.

T: Thank you.
You still think I'm good looking though, right?

L: You still, you've still, you know, yeah. I think you're still okay.

T: Okay? Thanks.

T: Two years ago I was afraid of wanting anything. I figured wanting would lead to trying and trying
would lead to failure. But now I find that I can't stop wanting. I want to fly somewhere in first class.
I want to travel to Europe on a business trip. I want to get invited to the White House. I want to learn
about the world. I want to surprise myself. I want to be important. I want to be the best person I can
be. I want to define myself instead of having others define me. I want to win and have people be
happy for me. I want to lose and get over it. I want to not be afraid of the unknown. I want to
grow up to be generous and big-hearted the way that people have been with
me. I want an interesting and surprising life. It's not that I think I'm going to get all these things.
I just want the possibility of getting them. College represents possibility. The possibility that things
are going to change. I can't wait.
What'd you think?

L: Um. I thought it was unbelievable. I thought it was great.

T: I think it's great too. (they kiss)

T: One in a thousand, one in a thousand. You know they should just tell you on the application: do not apply.
I mean, what the hell. You know what it's fine, it's fine cause you know what I have a great job at Applebee's
and my sister can get me a job at the Landing Strip in no time. And you and I, why don't we just get married
and start popping 'em out, because I'm going to be here forever it seems obviously. One in a thousand.

L: Okay that's it. I can't take this one second longer.

T: What are you doing?

L: I cannot take you talking for another two hours with this.

T: Landry, what the hell are you doing? We're in the middle of nowhere.

L: I cannot take you feeling sorry for yourself, Tyra. You care so much about what everyone else thinks
about you and what some idiot in some college thinks about you.

T: Landry, it's not just one idiot. Okay?

L: Could've sworn we've been...

T: No, when so many people tell you one thing about yourself you start to believe it, okay?
So you know what, screw you. Screw you Mr. 4.2 GPA you can go wherever the hell you want, yeah screw you.
You don't have a clue what my life's like or how hard this has been or how hard I've worked or that I've worked
since I was thirteen so I could get here. You don't understand, you don't...

L: Don't you just stop it for one second? Okay, I don't care what anyone else thinks about you.
I don't care what a counselor thinks about you. I don't care what you think about yourself,
but I believe in you, okay? I could care less what anyone else thinks. I believe in you. And
I want this for you more than anything. But you just got to start believing in yourself
Tyra. (they hug)

T: ...Landry! Landry! Landry! It came.

L: Is that the letter?

T: It came. It's thin. I don't know what that means.

L: That doesn't mean anything. It just means that, all letters are thin.

T: That's bad, right?

L: Are you going to open it?

T: I don't know, I'm afraid.

L: Look at me. You deserve this, okay? I can honestly say you have worked harder
than anyone could have worked for this, okay.

T: You'll love me no matter what?

L: I will love you no matter what, I promise.

T: Alright. I'm nervous. I'm shaking.

L: What did I tell you?

T: I got in. I got in! (they hug)

L: Baby, I'm so proud of you. (they hug again)

T: Oh, I love you.

L: I love you. I'm proud of you.
