A tentative release date is November 2, 2007. It uses both traditional animation and live-action.

Giselle (Amy Adams), a beautiful princess, is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) who has come to her aid – even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince (James Marsden) back home – she wonders if a storybook view of romance could survive in the real world.

Score and Songs
The film's score and lyrics will be done by the legendary Alan Menken, who has done a number of Walt Disney Pictures films, such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.

Stephen Schwartz will also be helping out with the lyrics. He's done such projects as Pocahontas and the stage productions of successful musicals Wicked and Pippin. As a minor note, he is also one of four composers to have three shows run on Broadway for 1000 plus shows.

It has been confirmed that six songs have so far been worked at, and are being continuously polished. They will be homages to the traditional style of Disney music, rather than parodies as previously reported. [citation needed]

Filming Style
The film will begin with animation and switch to live action. The fairy tale scenes in the film will be done in 2-D animation, as a tribute to the past Disney fairy tale films such as Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

This will be the first Disney live-action/traditional animation hybrid since 1988's Who Framed Roger Rabbit; but unlike Roger Rabbit, traditionally-animated characters will not share the screen with live-action characters. It is also the first theatrically released Disney American film to feature traditional animation since Pooh's Heffalump Movie.

it will be interesting to see the combination of animation in this movie... Perhaps there's more then meets the eye about this movie

From what I gather, it'll just be [hopefully] only a few mintues of animation in beginning of the movie, then going to real-life.... and I think it could be possible they would have another little animation towards to end.

Definitely looks Disney by the costumes.

I'm really, really glad Patrick won't be animated.

well Patrick looks handsome in it nonetheless

I hope they're not putting Patrick in a funny costume... I'm okay with laughing about the other people's funny outfits but I don't want to laugh about Patrick in such a way

Yeah, he looks good in a just a t-shirt and jeans. As long as he's not prancing around in like, tutu's or anything, I'm good.

He plays a divorce lawyer, so we'll probably see him in suits (

) oh(!) and Patrick said they were doing ballroom dancing... so he'll be in a suit for that.

I wonder if Patrick will song... It would be funny to see IMO and I would be shocked if he turned out to have a good voice
