Yeah, really nice of KH is basically say she's not submitting because the writing wasn't good enough.

That's not for her to decide. If she wanted to drop out fine but don't put the focus on the writers. Just bough out gracefully because you didn't feel you had any good scenes this year.

If the Emmy committee decided that the writing wasn't good enough that's their decision to make and not hers. She should be grateful for the material she's given. If the writing isn't good enough the Emmy's will see that.

I wanna know what PD submitted?

well I think Katie is right....Izzie didnt have the season she did in season 3... Izzie lost her mojo this season and Katie knew it because of the quality actress she is... with a cast so big every character is going to have a off time

She may feel this way which is her right but it is unprofessional to "bite the hand that feeds you" so to speak.

If she felt the writing wasn't there fine just withdraw saying you didn't think you had a creative year. Don't single out the writers whom helped you get the Emmy last year.

She acts like "I'm withdrawing my name because I Katie Heigl didn't get the great writing I so richly deserve." That's what it comes across as to me!

I am sure PD felt like he hasn't gotten Emmy calibur writing for Derek but he doesn't come out and say that. Sure, he's said he's been unhappy at times but he never fails to say how grateful he is to Grey's for the opportunities he's been given.

yeah as the reigning emmy she could have been given a little more... but there are 13 regular cast members and Katie got her time in the spot light last year and it someone elses turn...

Its a really big file so its not working i dont think. Not sure what PD chose it doesn't say but he did i believe.

I think KH should have just said Im not submitting myself this year....not the stuff about not having the scenes to back it up....i agree a bit she is biting the hand that feeds her but to me she does that a lot...sorry for the OT

I'm not sure if you should put it that way. There just wasn't an episode where Katie probably had enough material, though I think for her the finale had potential. But I don't think its because she thinks the writing is bad. I just think she just didn't get the right material for it this year, which is different from bad writing. This year she just didn't really have any emotional scenes, like we got in the 2 previous years. I think its mainly to be blamed on the strike perhaps.

This was what KH said, sorry for the OT:

She has the right to feel she wasn't given the material but as an actor you are supposed to do the best with what you are given. These writers and GA have been very accomodating to her with her movies and to single them out like this was tacky, imo.

I agree what she should have said was, "I did not submit any scenes for the emmy's this year as I would like to give the opportunity to other actresses in this category, " and leave it at that. Don't make it about yourself and how you weren't given emmy-worthy material. It's not her job to decide whether or not her material is worthy of awards, that's the job of the academy.

To keep on topic, I love how PD had spoken out about GA and wanting Derek to grow and to be given better stories. However, he always shows how grateful he is and presents himself with class about it. You won't hear him complain about how NOT emmy worthy his material is no matter how true it be!

I can understand that she felt like she didn't have good enough material (though the finale was good IMO for her), but she could always submit something. Its not like she gets nominated just like that.

PD has sometimes said that he didn't like the turn of events, or that he'd like to see certain things. But any actor says that about their show. PD always remained appreciative though for what the show meant and still means for his carreer.
