Patrick Dempsey: I Was Never a One-Night Stand Kind of Guy Even before meeting Jillian, his wife of nine years, Patrick Dempsey "was a serial monogamist," he says. "I've never found it easy to have one-night stands ... it tears away at your soul," the Grey's Anatomy and Made of Honor star, 42, tells the U.K. edition of Glamour" magazine for June. "By the time you open yourself up, you have to close yourself off." Dempsey credits his spouse, a hairdresser now consulting for Avon, with turning around his life after years of losing out on roles, partly because his dyslexia made it difficult to learn lines for auditions. Together, they bought a farm in Maine, his home state, and Dempsey says he realized, "I could be happy with a different life." His career took off when he developed that perspective. The actor credits his McDreamy label to the "really good chemistry" between himself and Grey's costar Ellen Pompeo. "I could just look at her and feel completely emotionally present and unaware of the camera," he says. He also acknowledges that his status as a small-screen icon added pressure upon his marriage (last year Jillian gave birth to twin boys), but says: "Our relationship is stronger than ever because we know the difference between what is fantasy and what is real. We are in our 40s, not our 20s. We're not caught up in that whole McDreamy thing." In terms of career, Dempsey sees parallels between his and that of George Clooney's, "someone I respect immensely and get compared to a lot. He is extremely kind about that. We've both played doctors and are both late developers."

Grey's Anatomy to return with double bill 'Grey's Anatomy' is set to return to RTÉ Two for a fourth season on 3 June, with a special double bill episode. Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh and Katherine Heigl will all return to reprise their respective characters, while there is a big surprise in store for Pompeo's character Meredith. The new season gets underway with an episode entitled 'A Change Is Gonna Come', as Meredith returns from Christina's (Sandra Oh) honeymoon to be greeted by her own group of interns. Amongst them is Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), Meredith's half-sister whom she has never met. AdvertisementThe special double bill continues with episode two in the series, 'Love/Addiction', which sees Meredith trying to avoid having a heart-to-heart with Lexie. Both episodes will be screened from 9pm on Tuesday 3 June on RTÉ Two.

Dr McDreamy checks out Europe on 'Made of Honour' promo tour There aren't many jobs which entail jet-setting between some of the world's most glamorous and exciting cities. For a Hollywood movie star hopping from one European capital to another is all in a day's work, however, as Patrick Dempsey can testify. After stopping off to present his new romantic comedy Made Of Honour in Berlin and Amsterdam, the American heart-throb wrapped up a whistle-stop tour of the Continent in Stockholm this week. The 42-year-old actor certainly made the most of his time in the beautiful city. Joined by his co-star Michelle Monaghan he checked out the waterfront views of one of the many bridges which connect the series of islands making up the archipelago upon which Stockholm is built. With 60 bridges in total, it's possible to catch glimpses of sparkling water framed by the masts of schooners, clippers and yachts at every turn. Like many visitors Patrick couldn't resist a shopping excursion to one of the family-run glassware outlets selling the traditional Swedish handicraft. Visitors in search of Swedish designer labels flock to the Nordiska Kompaniet shopping centre in the centre of town, while those in search of a one-off or vintage item should visit the weekend street market on the waterside in the western Hornstull area. The Grey's Anatomy star was in Stockholm at a perfect time, as the city comes into its own as the summer months approach. Street musicians busk in the cobbled alleyways of the medieval section of Gamla Stan, classical concerts are held in its flower-filled parks, and late night barbecues and parties spring up all over. Although Stockholm is compact and easily explored on foot, seeing it by water is an opportunity not to be missed.
