"More Grey Days for Meredith. It's been a tough year for Meredith Grey, and it's only going to get tougher when someone close to her dies on May 3. That's the Grey's Anatomy episode that sets up a potential spin-off for Addison (KW), but Meredith (EP) is still the lead of the show and producers haven't forgotten about her.

After the death of her mother and nearly drowning, Meredith will once again face tragedy and spiral down into that "dark and twisty" place she knows so well. "We joke that we like to kick Meredith and then kick her again," says Grey's writer Stacy McKee.

And Meredith was just lightening up, even starting to warm up to her stepmother, Susan (Mare Winningham). Susan is "a beacon of hope" for Meredith and the other SGH interns, McKee says. "They're all thirsty for a caring and thoughtful mother who doesn't boss them around." (Speaking of bossy mothers, Cristina's and Burke's moms return May 3rd to plan the big wedding).

To make matters worse, in the May 17th Meredith will face another "dark twist," McKee teases. "Many things will force her to question her loyalties."

Another new bad storyline for Meredith? Come on. They should resolve a storyline before to open another angst storyline.

Another triangle for them it will be boring. OK they are the lead couple but I think they deserve to be happy for some episodes.

They deserve to breathe. Meredith deserve to breathe.

I'm still doubting that flirtation thing to be honest.

As for dark storylines for Meredith. Those are to be expected. Though each and every character has a somewhat angsty storyline. Can't say this bothers me much right now.

Honestly if Meredith will sleep with Mark or other, if Derek will sleep with Addison, before her departure for her spinoff etc.. I think it will be bad for the show. I'm not so sure that MD fans will accept this.

OK for the angst storyline, she's the lead character etc. but another rival, it will be boring. Now it's the time for to be happy.
I want to see a rival for Burke/Cristina. Marlow isn't a rival.
Meredith remind me Marissa. I don't think Shonda will kill her but, come on, with GA timeline, Meredith had an intense year.

I don't think sleeping together is in order. It could easily be jealousy because perhaps Meredith gets along with Mark.. something we have seen in the promo..

A rival isn't necessary in order IMO
Marlow could be considered a rival.. He makes Christina doubt herself a bit about her pending marriage with Burke.
A different kind of rival, but a rival nonetheless.

Honestly, I don't want another MD cliff-hanger like with S1/S2.

I didn't mind last year's cliffhanger
