But in the scrub room she also appears to be with Derek... And since she talks about roommate and Alex has been her roommate longer, why would that cause any issues now? Derek just became the roommate... and Izzie wasn't happy with having to move out so I just assumed.. It could be Alex I guess...

I don't really dislike him, but I don't like him either.
By being on the show, he takes away screentime that could be given to someone else, like more MerDer scenes for example ...
Oh and he has a weird accent.
