- surgery of the twins in S3.
- the talk with Addison in S4 about expecting greatness.
- and during the season finale.

I also would LOVE for GA to touch upon Derek's insecurities. Why does he feel the need to be "perfect" all the time? Why does he lash out so often in his irrational behavior? Why is it hard for him to own up to his part in his problems with Mer? Why does he get so defensive?

I'd like to think it has a lot to do with Derek's father dying when he was so young. He became the protector of his mother and four sisters. He was used to them coming to him for support so he doesn't know how to handle someone like Mer who has trouble opening up to him. It also would explain his "hero" complex.

That's another wish, to learn more about Derek's Dad!

YOu mean like if there's something in the past that makes him still insecure about what he does to this day?

It would be interesting to have a good solid reason for his insecurities that have been shown in the last 2 seasons.

Its a shame that he's dead.. but it definitely would be interesting to see what kind of relationship they have.. If it was strained, or if they were the type of father/son who played ball and such.

It could prove interesting if that were the case.. that something in the past, perhaps some case close to his heart, still effects him to this day.

Exactly! I really think there might be something with his Dad dying so young but they never dig deeper into Derek's character for us to know unfortunately.

I'd love for him and Mer to start talking about parent's and they both discover they "lost" their Dads at such a tender young age. Like Mer's Dad left and they moved to Boston when she was 5 and Derek's Dad died when he was 7 or something like that. So, they have that in common possibly?

Also, since we know now that Ellis cut her wrists in front of Mer we could find out Derek's Dad had a brain seizure and died in front of him so he knows the trauma of seeing a parent in pain or something like that.

It could totally bond them and further deepen the connection they already have!

If you've seen any of Patrick's early work than yes, I can picture that, lol.

But yeah, if the teenagers are screaming at him I could see him being all cute like that.
