I'm sad for Derek too but he lost his reason (Meredith).
Chief role was his goal, then he met Meredith, she's dead and now (probably) they are over. Derek is damaged and probably he didn't feel himself the better person for that role.

I don't know why but I don't think Derek will accept that he and Meredith are over. It's only a fan idea.

I'm not sure if that's the reasoning for him refusing the job. I'm not sure what the exact reason for Derek was to refuse it, I'm still figuring that out.

I'm not sure of that.. He said that if she wasn't ready to fight for them, that she would have to end it. He fought and stuck by her long enough, I think he'll give her space.

And to bring a topic here.. what do you want to see Derek do in the new season for himself.. besides winning Meredith back/getting back together.

I have no idea yet what I want for him in the new season.. I want a growing friendship with Burke and Mark, but I also want him to do something for himself, which is why I'm partially bummed that he didn't choose to be chief, though I did like his speech when he told the chief.

Also in 1.06 (the one with the girl with the tumor) when they first get to the hospital Derek has a long black t-shirt on under his scrubs... then when he is scrubing into the tumor surgery he doesnt have it on...then when he and Mere are wheeling the DBS patient to the elevator he has the long black t on again. Just something I noticed last time I watched it.

I want to see Derek become his own person. To show Seattle Grace what kind of surgeon he is. I really miss the Derek from season 1.

I feel like we've seen so little surgeries of Derek this season.. I want those back, because I like him in the OR.

Is this new competition also going to be a cardio doctor like Burke?! I'd rather have him be another doctor then.

I wonder how Derek will react to the new 'competition', just laugh or really be intimidated.

It fits him perfectly though!

I'm really curious to see what's next for Derek on the show, apart from MD.. I stil can't think of a good storyline.
