DEREK: "Miranda."
MIRANDA: "Excuse me?"
DEREK: "Well, that's your name right? It's on your jacket. Fine, I'll just call you Bailey then."
MIRANDA: "You know you think you're charming... in that talented, neurotic, overly moussed hair sort of way. Good for you. But if you think I'm gonna stand back and watch while you favor her-"
DEREK: "I don't favor her. She's good."
MIRANDA: "I'm sure she is."
DEREK: "You know, can I point out, technically, that I'm your boss."
MIRANDA: "You don't scare me. Look, I'm not gonna advertise your extracurricular activates with my intern. However next time I see you favoring Meredith Grey in any way, I'll make sure she doesn't see the inside of an OR. For a month. Just for the sake of balance!"
Episode 1.06 - If Tomorrow Never Comes

DEREK: How goes our special super secret silent sunset surgery? I've been practicing that.
BAILEY: You have too much time on your hands
Episode 1.09 - Who's Zoomin' Who?


MIRANDA: [steps in front of Derek] "No. Turn around and walk away."
DEREK: "From what?"
MIRANDA: "From my intern!"
DEREK: "No, I wasn’t going-"
MIRANDA: "Yes you were. Come on. You can’t do this. You don’t have the right. Not anymore."
DEREK: "I just want to find out if she's okay."
MIRANDA: "She's not. She's a human traffic accident, and everybody's slowing down to look at the wreckage. She's doing the best she can with what she has left, and I know you can't see this, 'cause you're in it, but you can't help her now! You'll only make it worse. So walk away. Go!"
Episode 2.0? - Something To Talk About

DR. SHEPHERD: Yeah but you have to tell me where she is.
(Bailey looks up with a look saying ‘Oh really?’)
DR. SHEPHERD: I saved your husband’s life.
DR. BAILEY: She saved my baby.
DR. SHEPHERD: So baby trumps husband?
DR. BAILEY (nods): Mmm.
(She walks away)
DR. SHEPHERD (calls out in disbelief): Baby trumps husband?


DR. SHEPHERD (angry): Oh fine doctors I see. You accept a consult from Addison Shepard.
DR. BAILEY: Montgomery Shepard isn't it?
DR. SHEPHERD: The point is she should be on her way home. (he stares at her) You’re trying to drive me crazy aren’t you?
(Dr. Bailey smiles annoyed and pulls the red elevator stop button. A loud ringing starts)
DR. SHEPHERD (backing against the elevator wall): Oh hang on don’t do this.
DR. BAILEY (loud & upset): You think this (Dr. Shepard groans) has something to do with you? You think I’m even thinking about you and your romantic problems? I’m trying to help a patient very near and dear to my heart. And if consulting with your wife…your ex…your mistress whatever it is that she becomes, if that’s the thing I have to do to save my patient then I’m damn well gonna do it.
DR. SHEPHERD (moves from the wall looking slightly confused): I understand … and I deserved that. It’s just that…
DR. BAILEY (makes a face): Just …you look. You have put yourself between two very fine women and you looking for an easy way out and you wanna use me. And the hospital and dzz … somebody to make the decision for you and it’s not gonna happen.
(Dr. Shepherd still looks confused) She pushes the stop button off.)
DR. SHEPHERD: Could I just, could I just say a couple of things?
DR. BAILEY (puts her hand up in a no gesture): Dzz!
(Dr. Shepard looks at her but doesn’t say anything.)


Derek: You warned me she could become a problem.
Bailey: Who, Meredith?
Derek: You know when you love somebody, you think you can handle it all?
Bailey: You’ve done alright, both of you.
Derek: I came here to be chief, but Meredith complicates that.
Bailey: Huh. Well if this turns into an “either or,” you pick the person you love. End of story. Look, all of this means nothing if you’re alone.


Miranda: I see people. It's guys like you who don't see people like me.
Derek: I don't see you?
Miranda: Clear.I 'm not talking about you,shepherd. Just guys like you who don't see girls like me. We don't exist for you. We exist to do homework. We exist to build your ego up. I am a successful married mother. I am chief resident. I am the chief resident of a major metropolitan hospital. I'm a surgeon who saved his life today. And he still doesn't see me. I may as well still be that high school girl with the mushroom haircut and the coke bottle asses and the band uniform, the girl who didn't get to go to the homecoming dance because it didn't even occur to him to ask me. All those late nights tutoring him, and it didn't even occur to him to ask.
Derek: Band uniform? Really?
Miranda: Do I look like I want to be mocked by you right now?
Derek: No,you don't. I'm just gonna say one thing. In high school, I was 110 pounds, and I hadn't yet figured out hair product, so I had a big afro, I had acne. And I,too,wore a band uniform. Sax. I would've been honored... to take a girl like you to homecoming.
