Episode 4.01 - A Change Is Gonna Come
Airdate: September 27th, 2007 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET)

ABC - Having just returned from her honeymoon with Meredith, Cristina searches for Burke, but he's nowhere to be found. Meredith, Cristina, Izzie and Alex spend their first day as residents with their own groups of interns - among the interns are George, repeating his intern year after failing his exams, and Lexie Grey, Meredith's half-sister whom she has never met. Now that Derek's relationship with Meredith has reached an emotional impasse, he looks to his fellow doctors for friendship; Bailey wrestles with her place within the hospital now that her former interns report to new Chief Resident Callie; and Richard resumes his position as Chief of Surgery, on the season premiere of "Grey's Anatomy,"

well well well, i am a surprisingly happy customer right now.

i liked the whole episode, but LOVED the last 15. everything i needed from them i got.

very funny christina, i missed her. she and her interns, (1,2,3,4) were hilarious. the burke stuff was touching, as was her case. REALLY nice change of pace with her and alex at the end. i'm a bit over her and mer. so it was nice ot see them switch it up.

since i can't stand callie, i loved that no one showed her respect. that was expected, and they miss their bailey. LOVED bailey the whole epi, and was on her side. they so tried to win me over with the chief telling her she was made to be a surgeon, BUT, sorry, still not buying the stupidity that was him not making her chief resident.

lexie talks a lot. she was ok, but i thought they were setting up george/izzie 2.0. the end changed that. ha. i thought the george stuff cute enough, if not a bit unreal.

onto this damn deer. that was the weak link. the whoel thing was stupid. but, they learned from the ferry to not go back to it so much. it was stupid, UNTIL the damn deer was shocked back to life. that made me laugh out loud. other than that izzie was izzie.

LOVED LOVED LOVED and then LOVED derek and mark. oh how i've missed them so. "i came back to seattle to get you back" might have been my line of the night, well it was until the very last line. but mark and derek were golden. i SOOOOOOOOOOO look forward to these two this season.

derek, asking everyone for a drink was priceless. so very priceless. about der and mer. hm hm hm. the end changed my whole mind about them too. i'm kind of over derek being the one to outwardly give a dam. soooooooo over it. so i wasn't feeling much of anytihng for them. but i love the goodbye kiss/sex ending, and realized, i'm ALL FOR exploring these two in a new format. it should be fun. i did roll my eyes at mer in the middle again between lexid and der, but was pleasantly surpised how it turned out.

and the george, I love you too, was perfect, and timely. loved it.


all i wanted from this season premiere, was some sort of movement with george and izzie and mer and der. i got both and am satisfied. very satisfied. dare i say i'm looking forward to next week?

I'm glad you enjoyed it Brie.. I have yet to see it, but I can't wait to see it! I hear quite good stories about the ep!

I'm still not sure what to think of George/Izzie..

no, tivo had it to 10:01 it just cut off at that time and georgs said he loved her 2 seconds after. UGHHHH. and it looks like they are not replaying it on friday's. which really doesn't make me happy.

i looke forward to your thoughts. i haven't read anyone's thoughts yet. but objectively speaking i can't imagine people truly disliking it. i think they did all of the grey's things we've come to love.

haha, i know you weren't about george and izzie. but, it was an answer. i as fully prepared for them to bail on the whole thing. but i just didnt want them in limbo.

the promo did look very good. NOT loving justin's hair, fyi.

While I continue to believe that Grey's is the most absurd show in the world now, I am still watching. Basically just so I can see Patrick on TV every week.

I don't really think there was anything about the episode I like except for maybe when Derek told Cristina about Burke resigning. That whole scene I just liked Derek's expression and reactions to the conversation.

And I think they need to come up with a new storyline for Meredith/Derek. To me, it's rather obvious how this situation it seems they're going to have isn't going to work for more than a few episodes...

I agree Lis, from what I hear and saw (in the promo), this is not going to last for long.. No stringless relationship on TV lasts long without something that comes their way to complicate things. And I don't get how they could put the stringless when there is so much history and strings in the past.

it's close to finishing! Let's hope it won't say 3/4 minutes for the next 30 minutes like it did with my Prison Break ep earlier this week

Every eppy last season aired until 10:01. I think networks (it's not just ABC that does it) do that in hopes that people won't go to another network after the show is over.

After seeing the ep i found it rather amusing, the Deer bit and also Derek asking everyone to go for a drink then to top it off what made me laugh the most was Mark saying to Derek that he came to seattle to be with him...not sure on the whole Mer/Der thing and the break up kiss/sex i think that if they want to be togther they should just get on with it or just leave it

They never last long no.. But in most cases the people don't already have a history together as a couple.. It's just odd in that way.

My thoughts.. and I start off with the most important thing

McDreamy is back and looking better then ever!
I love Patrick's hair a lot this past summer! *sigh* lol

Anyhow, Mer/Der.. You know the whole breaking up thing and having sex thing is not going to go well. By looking at the promo you know the casual sex is going to continue but its only going to be good enough for like a few episodes before it will complicate things. And I think the one who'll have problem with the casual thing is going to be Derek. I never took him for the guy who goes for casual stuff like that..

Cristina.. I feel for her that Burke is not there.. I loved that scene between her and Derek, and they shared a case, and I'm only reminded that I want more of these scenes!! I like these scenes a lot.
Gotta love bossy Cristina! She's so much fun! LOL
I loved that last scene with Alex. 'I miss Rebecca' 'I miss Burke' What more do you need to hear? It was enough for me to make it a great scene.

George.. I love George.. There's no way you could make me hate him. He's got that likeble thing about him. Things are definitely complicating for him and he feels like he's got nothing good going on in his life, which is why I like what Lexie says. She kind of makes him see that something did go well, he delivered a baby.. I'm totally shipping George/Lexie btw. First off as friends, because George could need one, and I wouldn't mind if it became a bit more in the future, but all in time.. Lets make them be friends first.. Loved how Lexie kept it a secret that he has already been an intern once.. You could see that George appreciated it!

Lexie - I like her. I liked her last season, I like her now. She's just trying to do the best she can, even though she has her own problems. It's fun for me to see her as Cristina's intern. I feel for her though that Meredith is not making any attempt really for her.. Maybe that will come in the next ep.. There was a lot of things happening..

George/Izzie.. I can't make my mind up between these two.. Last few episodes of the last season, I wasn't much of a fan, I was okayish in the finale of last season, and I kind of liked them in tonight's ep. It's definitely an intriguing storyline.. I'm 50/50 on it.
Though Alex/Izzie will always be my #1 ship!

I loved the whole Alex who kept going back to Bailey thing btw.. Callie has no authority.. Its kind of sad for her but I found it funny to watch.
Go Bailey for standing up to the Chief! Bailey rocked!

I love Mark and I'm glad to see more Derek/Mark scenes... The whole 'I came back to Seattle for you' thing is weird in some way because in the past he had always said that he came back for Addison, but I believe it. I'll believe anything Mark says when he looks as great as he does now..
I liked the promise of drinks one day, and the small laugh between them..
Kind of cute that Mark needed a friend too..

I liked all the cases, the deer thing interesting me the least, but it was nice how Izzie came to certain conclusions because of the case and kind of taught her interns a lesson, and how she also had other expectations of them.

I'm glad Grey's is back! I missed it and everyone on the cast looks great! Especially patrick! *sigh*

At 9 p.m., CBS has plenty to smile about with the eighth season-premiere of CSI (yes, time flies!) besting the fourth season-premiere of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (15.2/23 vs. 12.6/19) by 21 percent in the overnights. Although Grey’s Anatomy could ultimately still win among adults 18-49, last year the medical drama opened with a 17.1/25 -- 15 percent above CSI. Are viewers tiring of the soggy dramatics between Meredith and Dr. “McDreamy”?

nice to hear your thoughts karen, you guys are watching differenty than i am. im enjoying things for the moments, not looking forward to what's ahead. i don't care what is next for mer/der, i'm taking it week to week.

i knew you'd love our boys. lol. too cute. blah to george/lexie. one thing i know i'm on overload with is everyone hooking up in the hospital. if i do have one hope this season, is that new people will be brought in for love interests if only for short arcs. i really don't need george to be with 4 regulars. too much for me, and beyond unbelievable. if they are friends cool.

lexi's speech was very izziesque, so i hope they define better lines between teh 2 friendships.

that is it, glad u enjoyed. i'm watching enjoying and moving on.

if numbers are down, for the premiere i wouldn't be shocked with everything that went on with the show. but ill wait to see the final numbers.
