Parks and Recreation

The comedic minds that brought you The Office, King of the Hill and Saturday Night Live now conspire to create Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler plays Leslie Knope, a mid-level government employee who is trying to convert an abandoned construction pit into a usable community park while a documentary camera crew follows her every step and misstep. In her path are the typical defensive bureaucrats, selfish neighbors, real estate developers and single-issue fanatics determined to prevent her from doing any good in her community.

I watched it. I liked it. Thought it was a really good first episode.

Loved April's triangle. Eric and Ben right? She loves one, he's straight for her and gay for the other and she hates the other. Sadly, I just watched an MTV True Life ep with the same scenario.

Love, love, loved this episode...

Amy's rap at the beginning.

The storyline of the gay penguins! THANK YOU! I was hoping for a gay-infused storyline on this show. It delivered and succeeded. The club scenes were hilarious.

So, Andy's sticking around...in the pit.

Awesome-ness. The line about keeping his suit pressed

And wow, Leslie gave Ann her blessing for Mark. Nice!

I want Leslie with Mark, no doubt. And I'm glad he cleared up his feelings about Leslie because when he said "hit rock bottom" I was like "NO! He can't mean kissing Leslie" glad he clarified. Phew! But I'm not opposed to Mark/Ann, for now.

I forgot about "Poker Face" but that was pretty hilar

Especially Tom saying she was doing that all day long.

I like that Anne is more genuine with Leslie. I was worried she'd have that Karen-awkward stare/embarrassment she had with Michael on The Office. And I think at first, that was the case. But they've toned it down and let her just be her friend. Whether she's disproving of things she does/says, that's fine...but they've now made it clear that Annie is Leslie's friend, and I'm happy for that. The show needs that kind of bond and rapport if you ask me.

This was definitely a good episode! I still don't necessarily love this show, but it definitely has promise. After this episode, I feel like I'll keep watching it to see how it does. I'm not ready to give up on it yet. The gay penguin marriage storyline just killed me, though.

Yea, I've been enjoying the season. I loved that April wanted to do the pageant for the money but quit when she found out it was gift cards to make a fence or something. Why would anyone enter that pageant for that kind of prize?

"I've never dated anyone that loved giving vaccinations." I wish Rashida had a bigger role.

I love the cop! Louis CK is hilarious. I loved his HBO show, "Life with Louie" and his stand-up special is great also. I like how he's not a smart guy, but he's earnest and warm. And how upfront he was to say he likes Leslie, so she doesn't have to chase him. But I loved at the end of this episode that when he went to her office, he memorized information on people she admires.

That was sweet.

Tom at the Beauty Pageant, cracked me up the most.

I love how he kept referring to Erin as "the hot one"

And how involved he got with the contestants, guessing there bra sizes. But the ending with giving out the key, and revealing he's been robbed twice.

Priceless.

Oh Andy, why did he have to interrupt Anne/Mark like that.

Although I loved how he glared over at them while they started eating dinner.

He's a bit on the tragic side, sleeping in a tent in the pit. Oh brother. And how courteous of Mark to actually fix the pipe in her shower.

He probably also thought it was a total sex invite.

April was also spot-on in this episode. How much little effort she put into winning. Her impressions. Making fun of Leslie. And then finding out the prize wasn't worth it and just walked off.

Too perfect.

And of course, Leslie. I love that she told the crowd to not applaud when Erin didn't answer her question. But, she saw herself in the other girl. And I was amused at the beginning when she said she ordered all those flowers to everyone because she got a little drunk.

And we got another mural!

Another crude/hilarious one at that.

I will say this, I missed Ron but, I'm glad the show kept up the continuity of last week's events.

I like Anne/Mark. Anne/Andy kind of looked like a Karen/Roy and it freaked me out a little bit. It was funny having Andy crash the party though.

The cop was great. I love that Leslie was worried whether or not she could date someone that couldn't identify Madeline Albright. I found it cute that he cared enough to actually find out who the other ladies were because he knew it was important to her.

I do too. Louis is great........I loved his show too. Anyways I really like that he's genuinely interested in Leslie and how it has played out so far. I thought it was sweet he memorized all that stuff for her too.

Andy is definitely on the tragic side. The looks Mark and Anne were giving him were hilarious.

April's impressions cracked me up.
