Pam: I'm sorry for pushing you toward Cumberland. Seriously, if you left here I'd blow my brains out.
Jim: [in interview] That's just a figure of speech, ya know? Blow your brains out, c'mon. All it really means is that we're friends. Who else is she gonna talk to if I'm gone, right? I mean, if she left I wouldn't blow my brains out. Of course I would take that job in Maryland because it's double the pay and soft shell crab just happens to be my favorite food.

Jim: To tell you the truth, I used to have a big thing for Pam...she's really funny and she's warm, she's just...

Pam: Jim is great. Being with him just takes away all the stress of planning my wedding.

Jim: I'm in love with you.
Pam: What?
Jim: I'm really sorry if that's weird for you to hear, but I needed you to hear it. Probably not good timing, I know that, I just...
Pam: What're you doing? What do you expect me to say to that?
Jim: I just needed you to know. Once.
Pam: Well I um, I...I can't.
Jim: Yeah.
Pam: You have no idea...
Jim: Don't do that.
Pam: ...what your friendship means to me.
Jim: C'mon. I don't wanna do that. I wanna be more than that.
Pam: I can't. I'm really sorry if you misinterpreted things. It's probably my fault.
Jim: Not your fault. I'm sorry I misinterpreted uh, our friendship.

Pam: Jim, I called off my wedding because of you. And now we're not even friends. And things are just like weird between us, and that sucks. And I miss you. You were my best friend before you went to Stamford. And I really miss you. I shouldn't have been with Roy, and there were a lot of reasons to call off my wedding. But the truth is, I didn't care about any of those reasons until I met you. And now you're with someone else, and that's fine. It's … whatever. That's not what I'm … I'm not … okay my feet really hurt. The thing that I'm just trying to say to you, Jim, and to everyone else in the circle I guess, is that I miss having fun with you. Just you, not everyone in the circle. Okay, I am gonna go walk in the water now. Yeah, it's a good day.

Pam: I haven't heard anything. But I bet Jim got the job. I mean, why wouldn't he? He's totally qualified, and smart, everyone loves him. And if he never comes back again, that's okay. We're friends. And I'm sure we'll stay friends. We just … we never got the timing right. You know? I shot him down, and then he did the same to me, but you know what? It's okay. I am totally fine. Everything is going to be totally …
(Jim enters the room)
Jim: Pam. (To camera) Sorry. (To Pam) Um, are you free for dinner tonight?
Pam: Yes.
Jim: All right. Then it's a date.
Pam: I'm sorry, what was the question?

Pam: Yeah, I gave him a ride home because...
Jim: Right!
Pam: ... We're dating.
Jim: Wow! There it is.
Pam: Ah, yeah. We haven't told anybody, but it's going really great. [looks at Jim] Right?
Jim: It is going really great.

Jim: I guess he can't get ANY girl he wants.

Pam: Jim's just really passionate about Italian food...
Jim: Yeah, I'm very passionate about Italian food...in fact, I'm in love with Italian food.

Jim: Margaret?
Pam: I know.
Jim: You just got yourself kicked out of your apartment.
Pam: Oh, I don't care. I didn't really like that place that much anyway. I'll just move.
Jim: Oh really? Who's gonna take you in? You're messy. You're a klutz, you spill everything. And you leave the volume on the TV way too loud.
Pam: Yeah. Maybe I'll just move in with my boyfriend 'cause he's kind of a slob, too.
Jim: OK, sure. Let's do it.
Pam: [laughs] No, I, um, well I'm not gonna, I'm, I'm not gonna move in with anyone unless I'm engaged.
Jim: Have I not proposed to you yet?
Pam: Mm, I don't...no...uh uh.
Jim: Oh, well, that's coming.
Pam: Oh, right now?
Jim: No. I'm not gonna do it right here. That would be rather lame.
Pam: OK, so then, when?
Jim: Pam, I'm not gonna tell you. Hate to break it to you, but that's not how that works.
Pam: Oh, right, yeah.
Jim: Wait, I'm serious. It's happening.
Pam: Ohh kay.
Jim: And when it happens, it's going to kick your ass, Beesly. So... stay sharp.
Pam: I've been warned.
Jim TH: I am not kidding. [pulls ring out of pocket] Got it a week after we started dating.

I don't know my answer to the first yet, but I'm thinking that the writers know how badly we all want to see it, so they'll find a creative way to let us see it.

I honestly have know idea how he'll propose, but knowing Jim, it will be very sweet and absolutely perfect!

The "How" is hard because all the things I can think of (scavenger hunt, prank related, in jello, big scene in a restaurant, etc) would not be describe as going to "kick her ass." That's such a cool way to describe it, I think. But yeah, I just can't come up with the perfect thing.

One school of thought would be that he would make it totally "in" with them (at their favorite restaurant or favorite hang out, first place they did something, or a place that Pam has always thought was UNromantic because now it would be totally romantic). Another school of thought is that he is just going to let it drop and then it's going to be totally random (at the office, in the car, parking lot, laundramat, etc), which would totally surprise her.

I actually sorta hope the thread drops for the time being, but we get to see the fall out. Jim has now told Pam he wants to marry her. Pam now has to figure what that really means to/for her. Is she ready to say yes? If not, what should she be doing to "get ready?" I think we are going to see some more changes in Pam before we continue our journey with Jim (finding out what he really wants).

If we see the proposal, I would hope that it's one of those long, zoom in shots where they don't know they are on camera. The only other thing I could think of would be that Jim would get the camera crew in on it, but I just don't see him doing that. Of course, I didn't expect him to whip out a ring to show off during his talking head either, so what do I know?

Seriously, that was a really good fake out thanks to Mr. Jim Halpert. I thought they were absolutely adorable in this episode though. I love that they can joke about proposing like that. My guess is that they have talked about it before if they can joke like that.
