The X-Files - Parallels I & II
I had two FBI agents in their mid-30s acting like high school kids because....I was in high school! I moved on a bit for parts III & IV, of which I am still particularly proud. Not really because of the characterizations but because of the way I dealt with the grief that I was already going through at the time. But the last two parts are forever marred by the first two parts

Jenn - when I click on your link it says I'm not allowed access to the story. Can you only read it when you're logged in somewhere?

I've not written all that much fanfic (only one story that's gone more than a part and I'm still working on it). However...

When I was in the 6th grade my then best friend and I were in a special English program. We would be taken out of class for a day every other week and we'd do writing workshop stuff. As a part of this workshop we co-wrote a story. At the time we thought it was wonderful. As participants in this workshop we were asked to visit the elementary schools and share our work. I think they wanted us to read our poetry or something, but we decided that this story was clearly our best piece of work and we would read it. Good Lord talk about embarrassing.

And what was this story? Well, I can't remember everything but it started out with this gorgeous girl who was a British aristocrat probably during the Regency period (we never actually said but that was the dress style we were working with). She enters the scene by walking down the steps of her home during this big masked ball, tripping, and being caught by this cute guy. They, of course, fall instantly in love.

But wait!

He's a servant of one of her guests (why he came with his employer to the ball, who knows?). She is, of course, very disappointed.

Her dad wants her to marry some other guy, she meets him, and eh, cute and all, but her poor heart is already taken.

There's another plot about this crazy guy who wants to marry her so he kills either her father or the father of the guy her dad wanted her to marry (I don't remember). There's another ball or something to draw out the killer, a masked one I believe, and the love of her life shows up and saves her from the crazy man. She removes his mask and...

it's the guy her dad wanted her to marry! Why he didn't say anything, I don't have a clue? But they all live happily ever after, except for that one parent who died.

And that is the worst fic I've ever written!!!

I wrote the cheesiest fic ever back in the day. Roswellian, of course. Oh my goodness, the dialogue. It was a Christmas fic and oh boy. Not good. lol It read like it was written by a 5 year old.

I've been pretty happy with what I've written, because I usually take sooooo long to finish one that I revise a lot! But there was one chapter I rushed to get done for a milestone thread, and I think I could have done better.

I wrote an American Dreams fic and it sucked because it was my first time writing a fic and I hadn't watched the show

The first fic i wrote wasn't even in "fic" format. It was more like a script. It was horrible And of course when i finally turned it to more of a story i wrote "said" way too much so it still sucked I can't even force myself to read it and try to rewrite it better. I cringe even thinking about it.

My first ever fanfic was my worst

I can't believe I actually posted it, it was that bad - but of course that's only in hindsight, so when I'd finished it, I actually thought it was pretty darn good! It's probably still out there somewhere being mocked, I'm just glad I'm not writing under the same pseudonym any longer

The first fic of mine was the worst too. I wrote it down in a notebook and never published it thank god. It was all stilted and I tried to be descriptive but failed miserably.

My HP fanfic is horrible, in my opinion. But for some reason a few people have added it to their favs list, so I've kept it up there. I'm also less partial to my first Star Wars fanfic, just bc my main character became a Mary Sue without me realizing it. Trying to ammend that now with my second SW fanfic.

I do that sometimes But I've never written a 'Mary Sue' fanfic that I was aware of - I've read some hilarious fics that have random cousins with extraordinary super powers suddenly springing up from somewhere to save the day, mostly in the HP fandom though. Or Hermione suddenly getting a sister who all the boys love as she's got golden hair down to her knees & flashing emerald green eyes
