Sad News from Dawson's Creek Fandom

I received email from Bitsy yesterday where she shared some very sad news about Kilby, a writer from Dawson's Creek (et al...) Fandom.

Kilby's mother called me last night to let me know that Kilby has died. Â_It happened yesterday--her mother saw her last alive at 4PM when she went down for a nap, and at 6, she would not wake up.

As you know, she has been sick for as long as we have known her--I spoke with her about a month ago after having played phone tag with her because she was frequently asleep when I called (drug side effects), and at that time, she told me her health had declined and that she was on different drugs that were making her sleep more and more. Â_I know that she had some undiagnosed ailments, but she had been dealing with those for as long as I have known her, and I did not know that they were life-threatening.

I am honoring her mother has asked me to get in touch with people she knows from the online world-- message boards she frequents, and people she knows whose contact information her parents would not be able to find.

I'm not sure how many that are currently here knew her but I wanted to get the word out as far and as wide as I could. Kilby was one of the reasons that I began writing ff and even though I haven't been in touch with her in ages and ages, she'll always be a special person in my heart and it is always so terrible to think that someone so young could be gone so quickly.

RIP

I've only just heard the news, do you have an email address I can use in sending my condolences to Kilby.

Its a shame to hear such sad news, I left the DC fandom years ago but I remember Kilby's stories as one of the first to get me into fanfiction

Wow.

Thank you for posting the news about Kilby.

I was fortunate enough to work with her on several stories -- I still have fond memories of staying up until 2 or 3 am, writing "From the Earth to the moon" in IM conversations with her.

I'm sad to know she's no longer in the world of fanfic, as her stories were fantastic and inspiring. She had a gift and we were all lucky to share it even if she was with us for a short period of time.

She was a great influence on my writing, my persona, and my concience. We had a sad falling out - which I tried many times over the years to repair, but it looks like it wasn't meant to be.

I'm sorry I'm just now seeing the message about her passing.

I will remember her fondly and enjoyed our time together as friends.

If any other members of our short-lived FF yahoogroup see this message and could reconnect with me, I would imagine Kilby would enjoy that.
