I'm a Spred fan from way back in the summer before AtS season 5, and have been collecting links to Spred fics ever since. In this post I've put a sampling from that list. AtS alternate universe Steampunk genre rated R 4 chapters: WIP An AU Angel Investigations story set in Victorian England, told in wonderful period style and language, and illustrated with the author's own character artwork. ~~~~~~~~~~ Dancing Around a Romance by Evenstar Dancing Around a Romance: Spike and Fred alternate AtS season 5 rated R 19 short chapters: complete A series of vignettes beginning with a non-canon version of Spike becoming un-ghosted, and continuing with scenes depicting a growing romance between Fred and Spike. My favorites are Sections Two (II), Three (III), Eight (VIII), and Eleven (XI.) “Two” is a wonderfully lazy, playful scene in which Fred shares a joint with Spike: Spike's thoughts, speech, and body language are very in-character, Fred is as cute as a button, and the ending is as sweet as it is hot. In “Three” Fred's painting Spike's nails black, while rambling on about helping him augment his wardrobe at the local mall; another cute, funny scene with a teeny bit of believable anger in the middle that's beautifully resolved. Section Eight: Bathtub. Nekkidness. To write a scene this erotic and still manage to keep it R-rated is a true gift. *boggles* Section Eleven is a lovely, realistic, and touching scene of the pair in bed the morning after...well, what was obviously a really good night.  ~~~~~~~~~~ These next five are all depictions of Spike/Fred’s first (or at least near-first) lovemaking. All are very well-written; sweet and erotic and imaginative rather than generic “fill-in-name-and-add-body-part” porn. These ficlets couldn’t be about anyone other than Spike and Fred... It’s a combination that Fred finds much more riveting than the gang’s reports. Terrific sensory descriptions and UST. And hotness, which isn’t totally due to the lighter. | It was so rare to see anyone look at Spike with appreciation. I fell for Fred when she reached out in friendship to Spike . I loved the way he said that he was not going to let Fred die from her "Illyria" infection (Not this girl, not this day) . Just too bad he couldn't overcome the circumstances. But I am wildly happy to see all these wonderful recommendations. I would love to see some romance developing for these two. They would have been great together.  | |||
