This Lionsgate remake of the 1981 Canadian slasher fllm, to be released in January 16th 2009. Is about Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles), a handsome, principled man who returns to his home in Harmony, Mo., 10 years after 22 people were murdered on Valentine's night. Back in Montana, Tom finds he still is smitten with his first love, Sarah (Jaime King), and is now a murder suspect. Zane Smith wrote the screenplay.

Jack Murray, John Dunning and Andre Link will executive produce. Executive producers for Lionsgate are Mike Paseornek and John Sacchi.

I only watched MBV because I love Jensen, but hate gore so I skipped through the kills. I predicted Tom was schizophrenic early on when the killer would come so close but not kill him, the weirdest time was the cage scene. Also weird was the fact that when Sarah and Tom met again ten years later, and she didn't at the very least offer an apology for driving away and abandoning her boyfriend while he was being attacked.

Which brings me to the confusion of who is Harry? Because near the ending Axel said something to the effect of "Harry's right here" -referring to Jensen's character - But Harry was the older man we saw tell Tom off in the beginning and others had talked about Harry when Tom was there)

So how could he also be Tom's schizophrenic alter ego?

If he is, then Sarah and the others driving away makes sense, although she would've wondered why Tom was jumping around for no reason.

I've heard another theory is that Tom began acting like Harry when he was shot and his blood spluttered on Tom's face - you could see Tom's maddening expressions, and I didn't understand them. (other than shock.)

I told myself I wouldn't be afraid because I'm watching Dean. But now I won't be looking at Dean the same for a while.

It's a shame you don't like gore...this is such a great movie for a horror fan.

I loved every minute of it.

Harry is the guy that did all the killing the first time around. When Tom screwed up and the miners got trapped, Harry killed the others so he could save the oxygen, then I guess ended up in a coma some how.

Woke up and went on his killing spree, where he went after Tom (because he blamed Tom, rightfully so but still.

) He was killed. Tom goes nuts, probably from the guilt of screwing up then almost getting killed, and he gets a split personality. I don't think 'Harry' came out until he went back to town, I think his schizophrenia was under control before then, but being back in town triggered something, and out comes Harry. So when Axel says Harry is right here, he means Tom is gone and Harry is the personality in charge...at least that's how I understood it.

I love the opening. I keep thinking we should change it up and get a more common OP like with lists and reasons etc, because the movie is 6 years old already...but I never do.

It is a scary movie and way to much gore for me, too, But I have watched all of it once and I'm proud of it!

Not sure there will be a second time, though...

I really didn't think it was Tom and was shocked at the reveal.

Yes! I wanted it to be him so bad. At first I wasn't sure how it could of been tom since he was locked in that cage.

I think I actually saw this movie before I even watched Supernatural.

Oh OK. Thanks for explaining. I did think Harry was an actual person, but because we saw so little of him I wasn't sure.

Axel was just referring to Tom as Harry because they were both killers. Why did Tom dig up Harry's body though? The scene at the end where Tom's normal side realizes what he's done was really good, even though I felt like they gave it away too early. I wish when Sarah says "Tom" he would've stopped... you see him struggling with it for a moment.

Good theory.

I remember this being the beginning of the 3D movie trend. Although at the time not every movie came out in 3D. The theater where I watched didn't have it in 3D. But I bought the blu ray and it actually had the 3D format on it with like 4 of those plastic 3D glasses with it.

Good point. Either that, or to imitate him right down to using his mask - (You see him hold it to his face & is almost captivated by it.) It's like that mask captured Tom because during the flashbacks whenever he wrenched it off, Tom came back again, like he was freed.
