I know, right? After the mess that was S4, Kripke seriously can't put us through more of the boys fighting, that would just be torture. The line has to be drawn somewhere!!!

Plus, like I've said a bajillion times, the show is and always has been about Sam and Dean, and their bond, how much and what they're willing to do for each other - to neglect that would just lose the essence of the show, and then what's the point? So it's more important than ever to get back to basics, especially if this season will be the last.

it's why i don't like castiel all that much. TO ME he takes away because for most of season 4 it was dean and castiel, and sam alone... and I DO NOT WANT THAT AGAIN! i won't be able to handle it.. i just won't. if castiel is there in more like a bobby (not taking his place) role (there to help when they need it but not to get in the way of thier brother relationship), than i might change my feelings about him... but until then, i won't be able to..

But in fairness, I do see where you're coming from - even if I am inclined to disagree

But I didn't see Castiel getting in the way of Sam and Dean, because he was never there often enough to really be able to do that, y'know? Like get in the way of the important moments. I know he had some moments with both the boys, but that was only really when he needed to tell them both something, or Sam happened to be with Dean at the time. For the most part, he tended to really be there JUST for Dean, in an entirely separate way from the way Sam is there with/for Dean. I don't know if that makes sense, but gah, I tried!

I'm more inclined to blame Sam than for the lack of brotherly love, just because he was the one off with a demon, walking down a dark path when he KNEW it held absolutely no good for him, and above all, lying to his brother, not listening and thinking he knew better. There didn't have to be a rift when Dean came back from hell, but Sam did nothing to try and stop it from growing bigger. The noob.

In all fareness, I don't think Sam knew how to close it. his head was already screwed and his soul broken and poisend by grief and by Ruby.

And although I love Castiel for the way he loves and takes care of Dean, who needs and deservers it more than anyone, I don't think he helped the situation. He made Sam unconfortable and Dean kind of confused.

But don't get me wrong, no matter how you look at this Sam made so many bad decisions it makes me want to puke. *shudder* But at the same time, it's not like any of the would win any "the most leave headed person of the year" awards last season. Not even Castiel.

I'm just praying this season will be better. It just has to be....

Exactly! Plus not to mention, Sam's new little friend, who he openly chose OVER his brother. Cas NEVER made Dean choose between him and Sam. While sometimes he may have been misdirected in his orders, he was as much a victim as Dean. When it counted, he always put Dean first. Last season, the same can't be said for Sam, and Cas had nothing to do with that.

I totally agree with this aswell.

But anyway, I'm still on tenterhooks to see the boys be their usual, kickass selves though, it's been a long time coming!

I'm glad we agree.

...I also want to boys to get back together, after all that is what the show is all about, but if we need to go through some Dean/Cas bonding to get to that point...you will not hear me complaining. Maybe loosing Dean (in a non-death way) will open up Sam's eyes to just how stupid he's been, especially towards his brother.
